....that describes a group of musicians. It needs to be a positive, G-rated word, as my idea is to have it as part of a band name.

For example, if I wanted the word to start with B, I could use "balladeers"; if the letter was C, it could be "crooners", etc. Whatcha got?

"DITHER" or dithering. Many ways to apply / misuse this.

The term dither can refer to a state of indecision or agitation. Unless you're meaning digital medial/signal processing, which is the intentional application of noise to minimize the negative effects of quantization. This technique creates the illusion of greater color depth in images and masks distortion in audio.
