Need advice about old Warwick Corvette bass

Hi.
I need some advice about a bass guitar I have the opportunity to buy.
The bass is a 1996 Warwick Corvette Standard made in Germany:

Ash body, wenge neck and fingerboard, natural oil finish 34" scale.
Warwick tuners, 2 piece bridge.
1st version of "Just-a-nut".
Passive MEC pickups w/"Dynamic correction"
Comes in a Warwick Casket case.
Uses Jum Dunlop Sercurity lock for the strap.

The seller says it's in good condition and have been played a lot. Naturally the bass shows signs of it's use throughout the 18 years it's been used.
How much is it reasonable to ask for an instrument like this, and would this be a good bass for a relative beginner bassist?
Also, is there something I should pay particular attention to when I inspect it?

I have no experience with basses like this so I need all the advice i can get.

Warwicks of this vintage are my favorites. They have the recessed straplocks and probably a full wenge neck (neck and fingerboard). These necks are faster than the ones in the 2000's. Looks in fine condition judging by the puctures, make sure that the access door in the back is not missing tabs, that you get the straplocks for your strap and that the trussrod in the neck moves freely. It goes without saying that you should make sure that it feels comfortable to play for you and that you like the way it sounds. I would say $500-$600-ish is the price ballpark for a passive Corvette but I'm sure someone else might chime in. You can also check the classifieds and eBay to get a sense of the current value of a Corvette std. Good luck!

I have a 97 corvette std and love it. The all Wenge necks are sought after at this point, they only make those on their top shelf basses at this point. I've seen these for 550 to 650 in the past At shops. I think anything under 700 without taxes it's a good deal. Still cheaper than a new rock bass model and those are made in China with maple necks.
