I have a fender japan precision neck on a jazz bass. Its enormously thick but feels nice and frets are great.
Now i'm curious to check the serial number.

My first (and favourite) bass is a MIK Squire Jazz i bought new. I have since replaced the stock p/ups with a set of MEC actives with passive pots and made my own bone nut. This bass rivals any Fender jazz i have ever played. The MEC pickups eliminated the single coil hum and widened the tone response on both ends. I am always on the look out for any old Japanese or early Korean basses.I have a fender japan precision neck on a jazz bass. Its enormously thick but feels nice and frets are great.

I went ahead and bought it...
My e series has black tapewounds on it now.i leave for home tomorrow and the store will ship it to my address sometime in the afternoon. I stopped by the store and played it for a while, it's with the tech awaiting a restring, new nut and a good cleaning. It does have a really great neck, fast and comfortable. Also very lightweight and a growl machine, even with the black nylon strings the previous owner had on it. The body and paint job is nearly ding and dent free, it's just in bad need of a thorough polish and cleaning. I'll post full picks once it arrives.
I was told everything is original, it certainly looks so. I saw no obvious sign that anything was replaced. The pickups sounded fine, the rear pickup seemed a bit microphonic, but it was a bit to close to the strings IMO. The magnents are flush and seem a touch larger than others I have seen, they also look old and so I'm guessing are originalMy e series has black tapewounds on it now.
If you replace the pups, and they have blue tape around them and black & white leads, I'll buy them
