Need an answer from Bbblyd

Wow, bummer. Maybe had you told Peavey that you were going to post their reply on TalkBass.com they may have given you an answer - just a thought.

Peavey knows. Peavey offered to pay the shipping to have the head sent back to us for inspection/repair(offer refused), and I was going to check it out personally while it was here.

Very cool ~

Oh okay, thanks for the update - I was just getting ready to make a comment about Peavey’s warranty. ;)

So OP: What's up with that - why did you refuse?:confused:

I've sent in into a peavey authorized repair center, it took a month to get it back to me. The issues still weren't fixed, I waited a week or so and sent it to peavey directly, It took about 3 weeks until it arrived onto my doorstep. The amp still had some of the same issues. I recognized the offer but I was simply through with having to send it into someplace to get it fixed. The definition of insanity is repeating the same actions and expecting different results, I figured I'd stop driving myself crazy and go straight back to where I bought it from in the first place.

So did the amp work before you cranked it?

Its done the same things regardless of how much I've lowered and raised the volume. If anything the issues are worse at lower volumes and makes them more noticeable.

I honestly think its an issue with the preamp section, the power tubes have been replaced by peavey twice and almost everything but the loud rattling inside makes me think its something to do with the preamp/preamp tubes.

Awe - oh okay, yeah that would tick me off too.

BbbyBld, "IF" what the OP said above is true - at this point, instead of only trying to fix the amp AGAIN - why not just replace the whole dang amp with a brand new one instead?

Pasadena.

That's the store nearest my house and kinda what I figured. There are only two guys at that store that know what they are doing when it comes to amps. Chad, who mainly deals with keys, recording and PA. The other is the repair guy Pete, he used to build amps. If it was either one of them that you dealt with, I'm surprised.

IMO, send it to Peavey. There are not many amp techs in Houston that are very good IME.

Yeeeesh, from a fellow Houstonian I'd give the new one on Westheimer and Dunvale a shot. Those guys will take care of you, though if you bought it at the store in Pasadena they need to get things ironed out themselves. Have you called up corporate? When I had my Traynor YBA200 shipped with the power tubes crushed and pulverized, they made something happen at customer relations. Might be worth your while to get on the phone for a while and talk to the higher-ups. The store I was dealing with at that time was NOT the Westheimer location BTW.

Different companies have different policies, and I understand that. I have nothing against peavey, they have been nothing but helpful to me. I did not want to waste mine or peaveys time by sending it in again. But as of right now this looks to be my best option after all.

It looks like ill just have to go a 3rd month without an amp.

Which really sucks because we had some gigs lined up for December.

Y'know, crap happens, and not just to you. If you have gigs, do what others of us have done and rent an amplifier. Bobby is a good guy and is trying to help you. It would be better to send the amp to him and have it fixed once and for all rather than send it to this guy or that guy hoping for a proper repair.

Just my 2 cents worth.

To be honest, I don't even remember why the amp was sent back the first time or what the complaint is now. From what I've been told, there was nothing wrong with it the first time in. The tech. burned it in for a day and played bass through it. This particular tech. is probably the best there, but he's not really a bass player, so maybe something was overlooked that an actual bass player would pick up on.

These are built to order, so there may not be a new one in stock to send out at the moment. The assembly line is reconfigured depending on what's scheduled for production on a given day. At the same time, Peavey manufactures the whole amp, so the chassis from the metal shop, cabinet from the wood shop, circuit boards from the PCB line, etc... must be ready before assembly. Most likely, the option with the fastest turn around time was offered. Also, in these situations (repeat offender, upset customer) service turn around is usually expedited.

Oh Okay, yeah that makes total sense - thank you. :)

+1. Excellent. It looks like BbbyBld will personally make the deal whole.

Cheers,
Joe
