I'm going to buy a little portable combo with two channels to use with double bass and electric bass. I going to use it for practice and low volume gigs. I've looked at the PJB Bass Cub and Markbass AC601. Which of these do you think would be best? Are there any other alternatives? I'm aware of Acoustic Image, but they're a little too expensive for me.

There's a good bit of info in this forum already if you search a bit. Sounds like you are looking for something really small and portable though. I haven't used the PJB cub but I did recently try the PJB briefcase which is also a 2 speaker layout. I didn't think it provided any meaningful volume over the acoustic volume over my bass. Meaning if I needed an amp for a gig it probably would n't provide me with enough volume.
On the Markbass side the CMD121 combo is pretty nice although you need to run a preamp buffer with the DB for best results.
Markbass now makes an AC121 which is a two channel head designed for DB. I haven't tried one to know how it may sound with electric.
Another idea would be to get a rig (combo or whatever) that you like the sound of with both basses, and get an A/B/Y switcher. I just went in that direction and it's working well for me so far. I just played a gig with a big band that included swing, Latin, show, and pop/rock tunes, so I brought my Shen & my Fender. I ran the Shen into a Fishman Pro Plat, and the Fender into a VT Bass, and both into a ART Coolswitch, which went into my SWR WM12. It worked great, I didn't have to touch the amp after sound check, and I got some nice compliments on my sound!
