Need help deciding between basses (SX's)

Hey guys. I'm looking into some new basses, and I was hoping you guys could help me decide which one to pick? I'm more of a laid-back player, I don't like playing heavy stuff like metal. This bass is supposed to be mainly for blues, or Pink Floyd-esque stuff. So I figured I'd go with a fretless jazz. I'd want to have something with a sound that stands out a little from the crowd (as in people in my local area) and can cut through the mix well. Note that I'm going to replace the pick-ups with Bartolini's as soon as possible.

What I'm asking you guys is this: Which do you think would be a better choice to put new pick-ups in? If they're both relatively equal, then I'm gonna go with the first one cause it looks cooler.

For what it's worth, I like the first one better. In fact, I've considered getting it myself.

Going solely on appearance, I don't care for pearloid guards most of the time and I detest gold hardware about 99% of the time, so first option would be my choice.

Ditto that. Going on appearance, I find the first one beautiful. The second looks like an ugly chick who wears too much makeup.

I guess I am going to reccomend the second one. I am not a big fan of burst finishes myself, but there is something definitely different from the norm with the second bass You don't see them like that everyday. And the gold hardware with that pickguard seem to work much better with the burst than the standard options on the first...
