Need help with first rig Avatar

I can't chime in on the particulars of GK amps nor Avatar cabs. I can however advise you to purchase the biggest amp, wattage wise, that you can afford. It really never hurts to have too much power. You can always turn down, but if you buy an amp too small you run the risk of not being able to go loud enough. And being low on funds you are stuck until you can save more cash.
One option to consider is a preamp and power amp combination. You usually get more power for your money and have a very versatile setup.
You can't go wrong with a Sansamp RBI preamp at roughly $300 coupled to a 2400 watt Behringer EP2500 power amp, also roughly $300. I own this setup and have played it through many a cab combination and it sounds awesome. Worth more than what I paid for it soundwise. Check Full Compass for prices similar to what I paid.

the bi-amp splits up the signal, send highs to the horn and the rest to the cab. If you don't buy a GK cab you cant use the bi-amping(unless you modify the cab yourself). The 1001-RB sounds great through my 4X10 neo(@ 4 Ohms). Pushes the cab, and enough headroom to purchase the 1001RB-II and not look back..

Ended up getting the GK-1001 RB mark II head, new.
Have my heart set right now on the Avatar B410 Neo. Just a quick question, should i get 4 or 8 Ohms? and how do i make this decision?

I'll second or millionth what everyone else said. Go with the 1001rb II. GK amps are high quality and a great price per watt ratio as well as have many options onboard for tone. I run a 700rb II with a SWR Henry 8x8 and I love it. I used it as well as my buddies 1001rb II with my old B410 neos (8 ohms each) and it sounded wonderful with great authority. I actually picked up a 1001rb II for a friend of mine on here for $475 shipped from thedude. You won't be dissappointed.

Just noticed you got the 1001rb II. What kind of band are you in? What are your fellow band mates using for amps as well? How loud do you play? I always went with 8 ohm 410's for the reason that I've always been in loud bands and needed the extra speaker area. It's really up to you if you'll need to expand or not, you can not go below 4 ohms with the 1001rb II.

I'd either go with a 4 ohm 4x10 or two 8 ohm 2x10s. When you think about it, 700 watts divided by 8 tens is a little under 90 watts per speaker. It's a little silly to lug around two 4x10s for that.
You could stack the 2x10s on their sides on top of each other and have a nice small footprint, and eliminate the whole comb filtering thing, if you're worried about that - on the other hand, if you just want a huge macho look, go with the two 4x10s....

There was a time when I was using my old Fender TBP-1 with a Carvin HD1800 and fed each cab 900 watts. Those avatars really like having extra wattage to open them up. You don't have to actually push that much, but clean headroom is never a bad thing.
My GK 700rb II pushed 480 watts at 4 ohms into my SWR Henry the 8x8 and I have way more power then I need to cut through two tube heads that are rated at 120 watts each through a 4x12 each (Peavey 6505+ > Marshal 1960A and Peavey XXX > Crate 412 or 70's Traynor TS-98 *nine 8" speakers*) even when they are blistering loud.
YMMV with your cabs.
The Avatars still cut with the Fender TBP-1 > Yamaha P2500S or Carvin HD1800.
They are great cabs for the money. I'm glad I got mine before the prices started going up, but they are still worth it IMO.

I have a GK2000RB paired with an 8 ohm Avatar 410neo, and it sounds awesome. If I need extra oomph, I pair it with an an Avatar 212. I like having two 8 ohm cabs (giving me 4 ohms total) for the extra air it can move.
