need help with scaling up a sketch

hello, fellow bassists!

i'm currently about to jump into my first build (i plan on documenting in the luthier's corner), and i already have i design that i really like.

i sketched out this design one day during class, and need help with scaling it up to template size.

so, my question to the builders of the talkbass community is: what techniques do you use when scaling up a sketch?

Software like Photoshop. Place guidelines at the right distances for exact measurement (e.g. you could set them the to the width and height of your body blank), scan your sketch and scale it up into the guideline frame.

If you don't have access to a computer and software, use an age old artists' trick:

1. Draw a grid composed of squares over the original sketch.
2. Get a blank piece of paper the correct size and draw bigger squares that are some multiple of the squares on the original.
3. Copy the information from each square in the original into the new bigger squares on the scaled-up drawing.

If you take your time this always works!

i might want to find that software and try it myself. is that adobe illustrator? and were can i find a download of it?
