need help with sticky stuff

Try a high concentration ( 90+%) rubbing alcohol. You may want to remove the pick guard to protect the finish. If that doesn't work then there are packets of adhesive dissolver we use at the hospital to help get bandages off more easily. They come in packets about the size as an alcohol swab. You'd need a lot of them but you'd probably have to buy a box of 'em anyway. A large pharmacy or medical supply store may have them. Or.... you could put duct tape over it:p

Good luck!

WD 40 works, too.

Some of these things may hurt the pickguard, use with caution.

+1 on the WD 40. Years ago I bought a NOS Fender '62 Vintage Reissue that had hung on the wall of a music store for several years. The plastic on the p/g was peeling off in tiny little pieces. They didn't even know how to get it off. A friend at another music store told me to put some WD 40 on a rag and rub it on the plastic. It came off easily. Didn't damage anything, either. Just be careful not to get it on the wood itself.
