NEED Help!

Well, I did some poking around on the interwebz. You may want to check out this article if you're going for a Paramore sound: http://www.bassplayer.com/artists/1171/jeremy-davis-paramount-sound-with-paramore/26969 You should note that part of his "heavy" sound comes from a fuzz pedal. And you're going to want a nice powerful amp, too.

In the article it says he uses a Gibson Grabber. I also found pictures of him playing Fender Precisions and Jazzes. I'm not very familiar with the Grabber, but I'd say that the name of the game here is an old-school, passive bass, rather than a modern, active one.

Since you're specific about the type of wood you want, and since they're within your budget (I'm assuming you're talking $1,000 to $1,800 American) you might consider having Carvin custom-build you either a PB4 (their version of a Fender Precision) or a JB4 (their version of a Fender Jazz). Then you can not only have your swamp ash body, but you can choose neck wood, fretboard wood, finish, etc., as well. This assumes you're located in the U.S. I'm not sure if they do international custom shop orders, although they do have an international dealer locater on their website.

+1 on the custom Carvin. YouTube Dream Theater (or John Myung) and Brian Bromberg to get some samples. Both very good Carvin players.

Same here I have 3 fuzz pedals 2 Russian big muffs and a regular big muff with a aguliar tone hammer pedal and a geb7 bass eq . My amp is a 1970 ampeg svt I have an American p bass with alder wood but it's not the same. Sounds amazing but not what I'm looking for I'm totally going to check that Carvin out I have messed around with some they are great sounding basses I'll check it out for sure !
