Need philosophy help!

I read "Atlas Shrugged." It was utopian drivel. Rand prescribes an ideal state, but gives us no idea of how to get there, and in the real world, getting there is impossible. Every attempt at a utopian state degenerates into corruption and tyranny.

A utopian state would require absolute and universal altruism in its population. If that population happens to be of humans, good luck.

I see an additional problem as well. The Utopian state is only possible if it has always existed from the beginning. This is because achieving the Utopian state destroys it. In any attempt, you run up against (at least) three types of people:

1. Many will cooperate because they believe in it, or are apathetic, or they just pretend to go along.
2. Some will refuse to go along, or will want to negotiate the terms.
3. Some will refuse to cede power, and will demand a place in the new power structure.

The 2nd group is forcibly converted, or exterminated. The 3rd group is given a share of power. As a result, the Utopia is achieved through repression, and becomes irrevocably corrupt.
