Need Replacement / Upgrade Speaker Suggestions for an Ampeg 410

It was a $270 used item and I didnt expect it to be perfect, but Its pretty good for my needs! (minus the $300 that will have to go into new drivers :facepalm: )

I could do a responce test, but I dont know how to give the speaker exactly 1 watt. Otherwise I have an osciliscope (iphone app) and a db meter...

Only thing I could do would be to hook up an amp (probably my old 15 watt crate one) and turn the volume up intill it read +1 watt more than normal on my Kill-a-watt wattage meter, but thats not very accurate.

That frequency response pdf sheet does show a weekness in the mids... but I could probably deal...

So, other than frequency responce (lol), which speaker will sound beter? I like the headroom of the 4ohm ferrite driver and the benifits of the 8ohm neo...
 
Hmm, I was just thinking this looks a lot like more of a woofer option to be complimented by whatever range of speakers your setup would include... I don't remember if it was this one exactly but one of them was advertized on amazon.com as a pa replacement driver o.0
 
Look at the Eminence chart for the Bp102. It has a huge mid dip at 500hz and falls off steeply above 2khz.

Hey rp (or any experts), why is the freq chart for Eminence Legend bp102 so linear at the usspeakers site?

the bp102's freq chart is anything but linear. i see a mid scoop and nothing past 2k. the 2010's chart also has a lot of jagged peaking around the 1.5k mark so i wouldn't quite call it linear, either.

so i'm dying to know what happened with andy. he's got two of the smartest guys on here when it comes to speakers advising him, and you can see he's fighting them tooth and nail to get them to tell him that he'll do better with new speakers than the old ones. i'm sure he went out and got new speakers anyway, and i'm sure they're just great.

I meant "so linear" when compared to the pdf rp linked to, with the GIANT absence at 500Hz, and like a 30dB diff (can' quite make-out tick-numerals) between the 100Hz spike and stuff above 600Hz or so. The post above said that's NOT the freq response tho, but the impedance response instead. (The applicability of which remains a mystery to me.)

impedance isn't fixed. a speaker will fluctuate in impedance as you play depending on what notes you play and how loud you are. so that's what the second line is showing.

the "more linear" line is your frequency response line, so go by that.
