Need suggestions for lightweight bass.

You'll have to find one used. There are some non-deluxe models on Ebay right now. I've only played the deluxe but I know several TB members have the regular model and seem to really like them. It's possible that the only difference is the natural finish and maybe the hardware on the deluxe model. Just search "lyte" and you should find enough info on both models. I LOVE mine.

Edit: There was one for sale in the classifieds here, as of 1/27/11...

I'll second the P-Bass Lyte. I had one in the early 90's, and it really sounded and played great I'm pretty sure mine was the "standard" model, but the Fender active pickups and tone controls sounded fantastic and it played like a breeze. If you can find a nice one, I think it will be absolutely perfect for you.

Personally, and I'm kinda biased here lmao, would be Traben, SUPER thin necks and by far the lightest, most compact solid body bass I've ever held only around 12 lbs tops! The neck is also razor thin and fast!

Here's some specs on it:

I just returned an Ibanez SR500. It had some issues and I never could get a sound I liked out of it. I did like the fast neck and lightweight.
I own 2 Yamaha Motion B basses. I have had one of them for 30 years!:bassist: They are actually 34" scale but people think they are short scale bass's. Anyway, I love them and they are pretty much perfect. One is Fretless and One fretted. I do have to switch back and forth between them to get the sounds I want on different songs. What I am wanting to do is get a 3rd bass that meets all my needs and just bring the Fretless to gigs as a second bass for a song or two.
So, I am looking to add a 3rd bass. It needs to be lightweight.
Active or passive is fine. Can be short or medium scale. Cannot be a long scale, jumbo fretted, back breaking monster.

My style is mainly rock but I like to slap and funk it up a bit too.The bass Needs to be able to take a beating. I had an Aria Pro bass once and I tore that thing up. ha!
So, I know everyone likes to talk about their babies, so what are your suggestions?
The music stores in my area don't have much to choose from.
Mainly just Monster P basses and cheap crap.

I've had a couple Motion B basses, they were all 32.375" scale, (I just replaced a bridge on one two nights ago, measured SEVERAL times, yup, 32.375" scale)

Did Yamaha make 34" Motion B's also??? Hmmm...

Idk, I play low, wide padded strap and hardly feel it, it may be lighter, I was goin off feel! I'll weight it tonight when I get home lol.

Nope wasn't a joke at all... It's an EXTREMELY lightweight bass, my judgment on the guess on the weight being around 12lbs is just jacked. I try to be as honest and helpful as I can, I try not to be a troll or misleading...

The body is made of paulownia wood (Dragonwood). Lightweight crap, like I said, I'll get an actual weight for it tonight, can't seem to find the specs anywhere online with regard to the weight...
