Needing a powered stage monitor

Hey guys. IAM looking at buying a powered stage monitor for myself to use at gigs at rehearsals. What do you guys recommend. I would like to stay under $350.00. i play in a 4 piece rock band. We don't get extremely loud. IAM open to any brand. Just need it to get fairly loud and have good clarity and not to far out easily. Thanks for your time.

Before I decided that IEM was the way to go, I looked at Guitar Center:
The Harbinger Vari 2212 ...Loud...this thing was amazing for 'pre-show' setup mp3 playing. not 'awesome' for bass, but not horrible.
Mackie Thump 12 Loud, kinda muddy.
Electro Voice ZLX/JBL 12 or 15...amaze balls.
QSC K12.2...The baddest 12 on the planet (not $350), but the reference speaker you could listen to.

I set up my band with alto TS212's as monitors and we've been quite happy. I throw a lot of mix and volume at the them and they keep up. $300 brand new still seems like they're underpriced.

Awesome thanks guys. I'll try to get down to the local guitar center and try out as many of these as I can. The only thing I could find on musicians friend was couple Kustoms and a Beringher

We use the Beringher monitors and have had no problems. I have some Harbinger single 12 powered speakers from work that I occasionally use as monitors, but putting bass through them has been iffy. Otherwise they work ok

I did a ton of research and the best performance for the dollar and size weight is the Yamaha DBR 10's. we play loud and they never fail... hpf filter and I bought three open box ones from Sam Ash direct on EBay for $315. Add a wheeled carry bag from Walmart for $19 and your done!

You know, I haven't paid attention to that really. I know we run ours at about half on the volume knob. If we have needed more we can turn them up some. We usually just put vocals and a bit of the guitar in there for me since he is on the other side of the stage. We havent ever put any bass in them to my knowledge just because we havent needed to, my cab is close enough to the drummer. They have served us really well. I haven't noticed any distortion that has been overbearing on problematic. We did have to replace a fuse in one, which was kind of unusual. I think they work better than the Harbinger ones I borrow from work sometimes. I dont think they are as durable/dependable.

I love my EV zlx12p, great for monitoring or mains. I put mics in the back of it for a quick rehearsal. I have used it plugging directly into it with my bass at rehearsal also.

Good monitors shouldn't color the sound being monitored.
Now if you are selling accept some color. Then I would use a low power practice amp.
I used my rumble 15 as a monitor made playing through a mixer a lot easier. I played my bass directly into the mixing board.

I use a Wharfedale 1X12" 300w rated powered monitor, but any active monitor, that can handle bass and will fit in your transport with the rest of your gear should do... I assume you are taking a seperate monitor feed from the mixer/desk? Ever thought of In ears?

I build my home practice studio around Yamaha mixer & 12" FBT X-lite monitor and couldn't be happier as the sound is loud & clear. My band is a 5 piece rock band, me & the guitarist plays direct using simulator (Sansamp or Zoom).

I use three for monitors with my SR650's of mains or a pair of Thump 12 's and a single monitor for a smaller room. They work great. With a little attention to channel eq and main/monitor eq they sound pretty darn good. YMMV
