Neodymium??

o_O
.... Not too much info or schematics detailing neodymium magnets construction.. it seems that i found some sort of industrial secret here! . What there is to understand is that neodymium comes in powder form, which is encapsulated in metal capsules that are very thin and flimsy, they look like coins, that consist each in two plates glued or just assembled together. When required to magnetize, current is applied and the capsules get naturally hot , and burst if overheated, exposing the neodymium powder, a very messy situation if you ask me!

This is a zombie thread, but I would just like to reiterate that there is nothing to say that a Neodymium speaker will sound worse than a ceramic one. However, I still prefer ceramic for completely unrelated reasons.

Whelp, with this in mind, I'm not going to buy any more neo mag speakers. Which sucks, but such is life. Let's just hope that the ceramic mags are produced more responsibly, even if it's only a bit.

I can't say for sure if ceramic magnets are produced more responsibly. I can say that they are more frequently produced in countries with actual environmental regulations.

If I had started a new thread with this title, someone would probably have pointed out that there are already threads about Neodymium.

I believe that reports of it having trouble with heat are overstated. I'm using 2 neodymium woofers in my setup (Em 3015LF) and running them with a power amp that's north of 1500w (Peavey IPR2-3000, run bridged). I've done so for 6 years of steady gigging in situations from hot clubs to summer sun on outdoor festival stages...I've never had my 'capsules burst'.

I won't say I Know Everything About Everything;
but I don't even know what the heck anyone is on about, with this bursting capsules thing.

I haven't owned a non-neo cab in years. I gig a lot. I rehearse a lot. I practice a lot.
I've had no issues of any sort with the neo stuff.

You say that now, but next show you could burst a capsule and the neo will run out all over the floor.
