Neon Trees...

The song "Animal" from Habits was recorded using an early 80's Squier p-bass. I love when unassuming basses win the shootout! Sent it through my VT Bass pedal, into my Aguilar AG500 and 810 cab. That was used on a few songs, "1983" and the chorus/bridge sections of "In The Next Room". Verses and intro for that tune I tracked separate using a vintage Kay "Howlin Wolf" hollowbody w flats. Other basses on the album: Gibson Thunderbird w ebony fretboard for "Your Surrender" and "Helpless", Lakland USA Pbass for "Sins of my Youth", Fender 62 RI Jazz for "Love and Affection" and "Our War", Rickenbacker 4003 for "Farther Down". All those went into my Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal and then into either a vintage SVT or a cool little Bad Cat guitar amp. Nice breakup there.

I don't find that's essential 99% of the time, unless it was a suave upright bass track. Otherwise videos are a chance to do whatever you want, and that means the best looking bass vs best sounding.

I think its interesting/cool that you use a Squier P when you have access to almost any bass you want. Does it play better than any Fender Ps you've used? And do you use the Squier live?

Just picked up Habits yesterday, listened to it twice and its pretty damn good. I really like the octaves on Girls and Boys in School. Short album, but good nonetheless.

i agree with Dan, fabulous work! i'm in a cover band and we cover Animal and Everybody talks, both songs always get the crowd dancing and singing along like crazy!

I'm here posting again, just so proud of Branden and the rest of the Neon Trees band for making great music and remaining cool people.

Just goes to show what hard work, energy, integrity, and guts will get you in this business.

I agree.
Great song & great bassist! I love Branden's playing and different tones he gets for the songs.
