Neon Trees...

Hey Branden,
Just caught the Lower Lights thing on BYU TV and so cool that you were involved in that project. Can't wait for the Audio Files show on the Trees. Both of those shows are so good, too bad more people don't know about them (yet). Keep up the good work, all us Lakland guys are always happy to see the basses on stage.

Keep on a rockin Branden.

Maybe two answers from two pros by posting in this thread? :^)

J and B: Gonna be using my VT a lot this summer I think!! New favorite "usually on" box. Played the first of the summer concerts tonight, and it was rocking. My question though. Can you guys suggest a good pedal before it to "kick it up" a little for a pop/rock chorus? One tune in our set in particular sounded great with the VT, but I felt like it needs a little extra umph when that chorus came around. Will the VT take a clean boost like an MXR or something well? I like the tone I'm getting real well, but I just need to give it EXTRA balls in a spot or two. :^)

Depending on wanting more drive or more volume, you can play around with putting your boost before or after the VT. Some ideas of pedals off the top of my head would be the Aguilar comp (could create a tight/firm boost), MXRboost, even a simple Boss graphic eq could offer results. My current fav is the JHS Green Tea Bass Utility. Offers boost and comp. Or if all else fails, get the VT Deluxe :)

Aha, now there is a Chicago date! At Lincoln Park Zoo, sweet. I should be able to make that.:)

Get 4 iPads and use them as the instruments for a song. Be fun to try sometime. Here's a pic from my hotel room with the iphone camera.

Beautiful day to play outside.

I should just run my bass thru the Amplitube app on my iPad for the gig tonight.

Oh wow, Ive heard about Neon Trees from a friend and then I saw you on a commercial, and now I finally looked you guys up on Youtube. Really good stuff. Ill have to pick up the new album next time I can get to the record store, and if you ever come around London Ontario, Ill be there! Lots of respect for taking the time to talk about your gear.

Hey HoldSG, thanks for coming out to the show! It was a great night and dream come true to finally play The Wiltern.

In regards to the pedalboard, the TC Electronics is the Nova Delay. I believe that's the name. And the top right pedal is the Peterson strobe style tuner. I like having the same pedal on stage that my tech uses, for consistency.
