I've had 2 Boss OC-2's over the years at different times. Then I got frustrated with the bypass and unity gain issues. So I got an MXR Bass Octave Delux, and used for a long time. A pretty close copy of an OC-2 can be dialled into that pedal and it's a far more modern pedal. However, the Source Audio C4 has pretty much changed all that for me. It's my OC-2 clone, my synth, filter box and sequencer go to pedal. I'm upto about 105 patches on it now! So very versatile.

I picked up a C4 recently as well. Haven't had the time to integrate it into the rig yet, but I am thoroughly impressed so far. Are you using any external controller for switching between all of your patches?

Yes, you'll need a Neuro Hub to pass the midi messages to the C4. I'm currently using a Boss ES-5 as my switcher and midi controller. I've been running my ES-5 for nearly 2.5 years now.

Unfortunately that habit goes into my gear choices also, and I never leave well enough alone!

Played without a compressor in my signal chain. It just makes the rest of the band sound better.

...had a Boss OC-2 on my board for more than 10 minutes. Probably the quickest turnaround I've ever had for a pedal. Couldn't get rid of that thing fast enough.

Never have I ever bought a piece of bass gear brand new. Came really close on a Spector, but went for a used Ibanez instead.
