Seeing the ad for the new Aguilar 2x8 bass cab.....looks like a redo old the Baby Blue with the 5" mid driver. Hope it's good because it doesn't seem like EA will ever come out with a new 2x8.....2x8 might be the best cab style for those of us that double on bass guitar and acoustic upright. Something about those eights.

This is strictly a feeling with not much fact to back it up, but I think that Aggy might be a tad on the heavy side to lift. Also...I heard that EA did show the 208 at NAMM and it's nearing production...but don't quote me on this!

Well Bob I hope it's as good as the H-Clamp you sold me. This one sure has taken a while hasn't it. Professionally, I think it took a leap foward in neo speaker development ( has it really been three years now since this baby was proposed, on talkbass?) to put neo 8's in a transmission line cabinets. Tombolus did you get a picture of this cab?

The EA VL 208's only weigh what 48 lbs and that's with all the transmission line internal structures?

Yeah, that almost seems like it must be incorrect. I really can't imagine a cab that small is 59lbs. The pics of it on the BG side make it look smaller than the DB112, which are big 1x12 cabs, but still....the drivers would have to be cast IRON frame with a little mercury to boot!

I figured it was heavy...and I can easily believe it's over 50lbs. Good 8" drivers aren't necessarily much less weight than 10's...and the lightest 2x10 cabinets are barely under 40lbs. This has an additional 6.5" driver and the design spec is not about light, it's about small.

There have been several attempts at 2x8 cabinet. EA built the VL 208 it's wonderful, but it weighed in at 47 lbs. The LDS Three Way that you and Don Oatman cooked up was about the same weight. IMHO Don's cabinet with it's front port and B&C Neo's is a really good sounding 2x8. I don't want to dismiss the Auguliar but it's rear ported much like the SWR Baby Blue was, someone will just have to try it out, but I'm really not interested. If EA can ever get the NL 208 into production I be way more interested in that cabinet.

I could not see one, but it very well could have been hidden behind that oxblood grillcloth.
