A vast majority of GC customers are first time buyers or hobbyists, so they don't need great gear to begin with. If their quality control was so bad, people wouldn't shop there. As it is, they have a ton of stuff, most of it cheap enough, and employees who know more about gear than the average joe. That's a fantastic business plan!

PS I loved the new Acoustic 200H head, and would be rocking one if I didn't snag a mint SWR 350 redface for $275...maybe if they come out with a 2x10, I'll have to reconsider!

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you on the GCs employees knowledge . They don't know anything, except for , when it's break time , or when it's time to go home. GC doesn't pay very much, so you get a lot of kids working there, or people just waiting till something better comes along, kind of like Tower Records used to be. Note: { besides dealing in music equipment, they also deal in employee turn over }. A while back, I bought a used Warwick Streamer at GC. Before I bought it, I ask the manger , where the bass was made ? He told me England. How's that for Knowledge.

Go over to the Acoustic forum and follow Stacknobuser's post's. You'll find a guy who is completely commited to maintaining the great heritage these amps have earned. Honestly, I think he might have dodged the bullet on this one because it just doens't make sense to have the big bad evil GC behind something AND to have it actually succeed on what I feel is an artistic level. If these amps did actually sound like beginner/low end amps (as you alluded to) then I'd just chock it up to business as usual, but these things break the mold and the only thing that would make me happier, would be if I knew someone here in my own country was benifiting from a good solid factory job. It's not a prefect world but I know that these amps were designed and built with integrity, care and respect.... it was evident from the moment I plugging and and turned up... LOUD ( and not just a "measly 200 watts" loud either!).

We agree on this point. It's truly embarassing to have a "conversation" with most of the people working there but that being said, I've also known people who work there who are at the top of their profession as well, so it can go both ways.

You're right but I felt I needed to jump in and defended a few points that were misinformed, so if I'm part of the problem here then I apologize for sidetracking stuff.

Seems to me that this would have been a reasonable discussion of the pros and cons of these amps, were it not for the reputation of Guitar Center and certain negative opinions of GC. It would be nice to be able to take GC out of the mix and evaluate the amps on their own merits and faults.

I have nothing against GC. I've only had good experiences.
They're owned by Bain Capital the same guys who own Burger King. You know the chain with the slogan "Have it your way" - subtext of if only you can find a way to communicate what you want. :)

These Acoustic discussions all seem to be trying to separate out the current new Acoustics and yet some newer line of Acoustics.
I do wonder why the newer line of "Acoustics" aren't advertised and more information from the company given out. I haven't seen any concrete information anywhere just forum chat. Nothing from GC.

They should take some pre-orders so they know how many to batch up. They could be doing like any large company - doing research and development, sometimes not leading to any products for sale.

Ok, now I see what I'm dealing with here.... It wasn't about 'getting the last word in', I just have a problem when someone raises a point and then runs and hides for cover when they feel they cant defend their position. It's cheap and irresponsible in the course of conversation to behave like that. If suggesting for you to investigate something after you make "silly" comments ( quote "thats silly") is insulting to you, then I'm sure you're happy lounging in blissful ignorance, which will mean nothing to you because the foggy illusion of denile has already wrapped its arms around you and gently caressed you into a deep and restful slumber. (Please insert your nose plugs... you're snoring is keeping all the neighbors awake).

The GC line of amps have been included in their promotional brochures for months and they have also taken out ad space in Bass Player as well. the American stuff is still in some sort of manufacturing phase etc so it's not ready to hit the store yet.
