New Amp/Cab Decision! Help requested

Personally, I wouldn't pay to fix a 350H. I avoid Line6 amps at all costs as I don't need all the sampling/modeling and stuff that they have built in to the amp and the tone. I'd spend that money on a different Ampeg head like a PF350 or SVT-3 or 7.

What cab(s) do you have now? I gig my MicroVR all the time through 2 of the 210AVs. If I need more power in the future, I will either get a PF-350 or another MicroVR and daisy chain them.

Well I'll be darned, I did not know there was an LD400 head! I have the LD400 Pro 210 combo that was part of a Tobias & amp combo deal that I could not resist. At the time I figured that the LD400 would be a good practice amp. Eventually I took it to a few gigs were it was a bit under powered. BUT...when I paired it with a 210 or 410 extension cabinet it was fantastic. I ended up using it a lot combined with my Eden 410 cabinet!

The sound/voicing of option one seems like it would best be what you're looking for. However, the condition of the gear and its likelihood of having been really worked hard (maybe borderline abused) would worry me. Personally I'd look for an option 3 built around gear that has that Ampeg sound you like.

I currently have one 210av cab. I think this 410hlf with a PF350 would probably be the perfect pairing for my tastes. Nobody is selling PF350s used. Which is likely a testament to that head.

I noticed a huge, huge difference when adding the second 210AV cab. Made it gig-worthy and 8.4 thousand times easier to move than the 4140HLF I used to have. What kind of stuff to you play?

That head is only worth about 150, but the cab's good. If it's a package deal (but still a good deal), get the cab, throw away the amp, and buy a pf500 (or 800).

I just bought a pf500 off musicians friend for 260. There was 2 more a week ago.

The Heavy Drop D stuff might indeed benefit from the 410HLF since it most likely is loud, right? In that case, you might also consider going up to a PF500 or even PF800. The SVT7-Pro is a great amp as well. The 410HLF might be overkill for mellow acoustic covers and scare off patrons..lol.

I had that same Ampeg rig and sold it about 3 years ago to someone in Pennsylvania. Wonder if it's my old setup haha Anyway I used that rig for a LOUD drop C metal band and I would agree with what a few others said. The cab was great for that music but I would shoot for a different head in the 500 watt @ 4ohm region. Also add a HPF in your chain for the acoustic stuff so you can tame the bottom end on the HLF cab when needed

Unless you're in a rush, I would avoid both and wait for something in better shape.

Personally, I don't like the Line6 gear that much, and back in the 80s when I was using Hartke cabs, I found the XL much better sounding than the Transporter series.

The Ampeg rig sounds like it was ridden hard and put away wet, and I'm not confident that $150 would fix the amp, nor would I be so sure that the speakers are what they're advertised uless I saw receipts and could open the cab to check.

I played through that Line 6 head once as part of a backline. Easily the worst head I've ever heard. I know people love the modeling and effects that are in those, but it seems like you could achieve the same thing with a better sounding amp and a few pedals. There are not enough letters in the English alphabet to adequately describe how much I disliked that amp.
