ok. So I have posted about a thousand threads here in the amp section. I am no closer to replacing my beloved SWR Bass 750 than I was 2 weeks ago.
Short story. My sound was perfect (for me). My amp running at 2.6Ohms. Can't have that anymore (amp is doa). I have all small cabinets (3) at 8Ohms each. Will need new cabinets as well. Working one thing at a time though.

Need lots of power. Jam music 3 guitars and 2 drummers.
Looking at little high wattage amps like the GB MB800 GK Streamliner, GB 9.0 and others as well as the Epifani PS1000, Ampeg SVT 7Pro and the Thunderfunk TFB 800.

Now, this is a decade long investment maybe longer.
I intend on buying new so the miriad of wonderful amps that are not being made any longer are not options.
I am desperate for help on this. I have not bought an amp in 12 years and have not used anything other than SWR since 1987!!

I believe Genz Benz is on the shelf just like SWR.

With that being said. I am a fan of the SWR sound myself and I run mostly Ampeg stuff. I have the 7pro and a PF800. Both of these amps get plenty loud, but do sound different than SWR.

I have limited knowledge of GK having only owned an MBFusion for a short time. But I think you may dig the tone these provide. Is say maybe the MBFusion 800 with a Neo 412 should get you where you need to be very easily.

If you aren't exactly looking for a similar tone however. I can't say enough about the 7pro with an 810. It's a lot of amplification. It just doesn't have the clean sound you may be looking for?

I could be way off in what I think you stated you were looking for. My current favorite rig, is the 7pro with a Heritage SVT 410hlf. It gets loud as I need but that's just me. I do play pretty loud tho and I use octave pedals and distortion and fuzz pedals.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I don't know what I want. I want my SWR Bass 750 through my Schroeder cabinets. I can't have that. So I have to find something else.
Gk has been shelved. So for me, that would be out of the running.
Oh, USA made would be preferred as well. (just something I prefer).

Not sure of your need to buy new but as a former owner of the SWR Marcus Miller preamp i would consider that with a decent power amp. Great tone and an excellent onboard compressor. Can occasionally be found but I wouldn't pay much over 500-550 for one.

"US made" narrows it down to Carvin, Mesa, Aguilar (and G-K you have already nixed although the 2001RB is 2 ohm per amp side capable with a balance control on the rear). Maybe look into boutique builders (like Meatsmoke?).

I am not against boutique things. SWR and Eden were boutique when I first bought mine back in 1987.. I was just looking at the Aguilar DB751 and the Tonehammer and I looked into the Mesa M9 Carbine. Even checking into the SVT 7Pro, it sounds like there are so many issues with it shutting down that I don't know if I would want to chance it with that one

He is right there in Milwaukee. Everyone sends their amps to him. Why not see what a repair on your SWR would cost?
I had blown mosfets in an AMPEG svt 3. He repaired and biased it, works great, sounds great

Yep, I am picking up my amp from a repair guy in chicago tomorrow and John was next on my list. I have had several things repaired by him. He really is extremely good. Especially since he is a qualified tech for just about every brand out there

I looked into the WT800 as well. I am a little leary with Washburn owning it. I know how they made decisions (worked there for a year) and it really is a big put off. Again, Eden was at one time boutique, so it is a possibility. Also looking at revisiting the GB 9.0 as well
