Pretty sure you spelled Dino's name right. But as for the SVT-CL, it ain't going anywhere....also these are the last products they made before the "merger"(?) so am more tempted
must say i will miss that company, something very real about their stuff

Subscribing to this thread. I have a cheap chorus that I would replace if (and it's a big IF) this puppy will get me to flanging territory a la Tempus Fugit (Yes). JimmyM, I read your comment on the first page of this thread on the flanging ability of the MXR BCD and, based on your description, that pedal doesn't sound like it would get me to the Tempus Fugit sound. Here's hoping the Liquifier can get there so I can score a cheaper pedal.
I don't know...I think the BCD could work, but I'm not 100% on that. But if you wanted a cheaper pedal that would work, try the Donner Jet Convolution Flanger. It's a little mini flanger that sounds almost identical to the Deluxe Electric Mistress. The DEM is definitely a little richer sounding, but for $30 the Donner is close enough to where I don't care.
Thanks for your suggestion, JimmyM. Alas, board space is my nemesis so I was hoping to get a 2 in 1. I'm hoping more demos will start appearing as the product gets out in the wild.

@JimmyM did you get at chance with the Opto Comp yet? Just wondering if that piece of gear and a Micro VR would play nice together. Do you engage the limiter on the VR?

Not gotten an Opto Comp yet. Dino has his hands full with this whole Yamaha thing right now, so not going to bust balls about a pedal I may or may not use
Have not been a fan of compression for years now...tried to reintroduce it last year and decided against it. And no, I've never used the limiter or comp in any amp I've owned, and I've not tried the 412he, either. In other words, I'm no help whatsoever to you tonight.
Great review! I too am using the DP-3X, however i am using the optocomp on my tech 21 VT Bass deluxe. I essentially have a two amp setup with the DP-3x and the VT bass deluxe and i use a channel switcher. the opto comp is a great pedal for the price. Your band sounds killer btw, what’s their name?
Thanks brother. Name of my band is EDGE OF PARADISE. I agree 100% that Ampeg Opto Comp is great for the money and even though I am using built in DP3X compression 100% I feel that when I add OptoComp after DP3X it gets some extra girth and thickness if settings are proper. I really can't hear it in the headphones or at home but I think playing on a bigger system or live would allow you to hear that thickening effect. It almost like squashes overdriven and clean signal and blends them even more (even though they got it right with DP3X from the start as far as cohesiveness of the signal goes.
Also YOUTUBE adds compression so it's even harder to hear subtle nuances.

I know people always complain about lengthy reviews but I think if you wanna spend money on something it's worth seeing/hearing as much as you can that will help you bring educated decision o whether or not to purchase something so I am really happy it helps someone

Awesome review on this! I'm USUALLY the guy who complains about videos being too long- BUT in this case, I really appreciated how you took time to actually explain all of your settings!
Based on that (and Dino's demo viddy), I just bit the bullet and ordered one from Sweetwater a few minutes ago!

I am sure you will love it. I think it does a GREAT job and sound supper smooth and punchy. Really nice analog sound. I could have totally done without it I am sure I have built in compressor that sounds awesome (inside DP3X) but I will test it live and in loud settings as I am almost 100 percent sure I hear thickening and brings quieter parts like jump from string to string up more forward and evens it all out.

1. I was pleasantly surprised to see a basic, back to the essentials compressor (compression, release, output). I'm not a fan of ones with blend or tone controls. Since it tailored for bass guitar, things like attack should be set into an average window (if that makes sense). Kinda reminds me of the old DOD 280, which was an optical comp, had minimal controls (two, IIRC) and actually sounded quite good.
2. Regarding your videos. you give a great amount of information; certainly enough for "normal" bass players and also enough to keep the techno-geeks (like me!) thoroughly engaged. Perhaps the pacing could be quicker tighter (self-editing/censoring), but I like your style (it's also good to hear a voice through a GOOD mike too!).
I am anxiously waiting for my Opto-comp to get here now (where it will replace my rather finicky DOD 280 clone)...
