New ampeg speculation - A true B15 Reissue?

... but I still have no use for a 30w amp.

I'll preface by saying that tube amps are something I've never understood, but I think I read a few pages back that a 30w tube amp is roughly equivalent to a 100w solid state amp? (Apologies, I'm at work and don't have time to scroll back and confirm...) If that's true, they'd probably still tell me to turn it down, but I guess I could make this new B-15 work for my current gig... *sigh*

lol

tube power sections have more pleasing distortion that can be mistaken for clean tones. so you can turn them past their rms wattage and not sound all broken up. these will go louder than you'd think, but i don't think they'll quite hit what a 100w ss amp will do clean.

otoh, who cares? it's a b-15!

That's my REAL point, for sure. Won't matter if it sounds like 30w or like 100w though, they'll still tell me to turn it down!

I've been looking over my gear a little more... up to 12 pedals and a bass going up in mid-November for a "Just in time for Christmas Sale!" lol And that's just stuff that's sitting around in boxes, not anything that's on my pedalboard. lol I'm such an addict. Funny thing is that 99.5% of the time, I just use a clean sound anyway.

If I can't get a B-15, it'll make for a nice down payment on a new car. :D

if i was a betting man, i'd bet mark made the cab with the 8 t-nuts for the speaker but the others were made by someone else. maybe that's the prototype.

I was wondering what the deal was with that picture. Don't they only have 4 in the originals anyhow? (Though the 8 is probably better and a nice addition if it was done by Mark). At least I think the speaker in mine is mounted with 4, although it was swapped for a JBL so that could have just been a product of the swap and not original....

hey, just noticed in those pics that they're no longer using fiberglass to line the back wall of the cab...they're using foam. good move imho. fiberglass is itchy and tears up easily.

i saw that, too. however, i can't imagine them going to all this trouble to make this amp worthy of standing beside the originals only to cheap out on foam, so i'm operating on the assumption that they have plenty enough foam in there to kill standing waves.

Mine has eight also...

hey, just noticed something else...looks like no baffle spacers on the inner baffle. i see holes drilled to mount the outer baffle, but it seems they're doing something different to space them. interesting...

They're done the way I do mine, with the spacers mounted to the back of the grille baffle.

Okay, apologies in advance for the dumb question...

A double baffle is two front panels, yes? Is the speaker mounted between them? I've been doing a bunch of researching/planning for a little (amateur ;)) DIY cabinet build to keep myself occupied for a while, but I'm still fuzzy on what the double baffles actually look like. The only pictures I find have what looks to be a single baffle (1/2"? 3/4"? thick), but I've never seen a double baffle, or I have and didn't know it. I haven't found any pics with spacers, two front panels, etc.

Are there any benefits or differences between single and double baffles?

This probably isn't the best place to ask that, but you guys all seem pretty knowledgeable. Just trying to catch up. ;)
