New Ampeg Venture Series

So - longshot question here - anyone compare the Venture 410 Cab against other cabs? I see LOTS of replies about the amp head but that's not really my concern due to my collection of nice medium wattage tube heads. I typically run my V4b or 100t at gigs with my Fender Pro-Neo 410 cab but the weight savings of the Venture 410 has definitely peaked my interest... I had an old Ampeg PN 410 and Ampeg AV212 that didn't have the same qualities found in the bassman cab and just didn't handle my distortions / fuzzes as well.

The Bassman Cab just is the perfect beast for me

Just looking for Venture 410 cab impressions and how well it'd handle fuzz / distortion vs other cabs! (i'm a tweeter 50% or so kinda guy)

I finally got on the Venture bandwagon…just ordered a V7. Passed on a cab for now since I have a few that I love, but I also ordered an RB110 for fun. Yay!

Mine showed up yesterday. I am hyped! It sounds like an Ampeg. Only played it through the Venture 4/10 bought with it so far, but I am very pleased.

I haven't figured out exactly how the Gain and SGT Level circuits interact yet, but have not had an issue with getting plenty of ouput.

Was a little disappointed that there was candy in only one of the two boxes.

... haven't used it at a gig yet ,
but i'm going to be using this rig for two shows this weekend .
Ampeg V7

I get no candy with my amps. Fortunately I bought a couple new clip on tuners from SW, so I will get candy, just not from Ampeg ;)

My friend says he wants to get a VB-88, seal the port, and put new speakers in. I said at least first try it stock for a bit!
That's like woman dating a guy, telling him he's perfect the way he is, marrying him and then not understanding why there's challenges to changing him to suit her new needs.

Why ruin a perfectly good cab ?
He's convinced he only likes sealed cabs and says he's read some negative reviews on it. He's pretty level-headed though. I'm sure he'll give it a give some good playthrough beforehand.

He thinks the mod would be the ticket to a smaller fridge, but I'm not sure. I'm assuming it doesn't have dividers internally like the 810.

That would be an expensive project, with dubious outcome. He will find if very difficult to source an 8” driver that works well in a sealed cabinet with decent voicing. He just doesn’t know it yet.

Tell him good luck on destroying a new cab. Save him from wasting money doing the mod. Give him a lighter to burn the $1800 instead of going thru all that trouble. You did say he was a friend?
