New (and improved?!) Bass Big Muff

I just got my Casady back from repairs and have been wanting to try this pedal with it, specifically. With the Gate control, I was hoping to add another fuzz to the Hollowbody arsenal. It doesn't look like this is going to be the one, either.
I'll spend a few more days playing with it to see if I cab suss it out, otherwise, it looks like the first one will be up for grabs used soon.

i feel little sorry for EHX, but i must 100% agree ... what i testet from their product line:
- Q-Tron+ ... volume spike, not easy to find good settings
- Tube Zipper ... the envelope filter really sucked, also the tube-overdrive
- Bass Big Muff ... worst pedal ever
^ of course i sold all those pedals again, conclusion: no more EHX stuff for me.
BUT what i really dig is the black and(!) green Sovtek Muff.
So, even though it doesn't work for what you needed, would you still recommend it over the regular BBM?
Absolutely! I'm trying to build a sound around hollowbody basses and was hoping that the gate would help with this issue. The only way to put an end to "Howl City" on my Casady is to turn the gate up so high that it's choking the tone. This, however, is a non-issue with other basses. The Bass Big Muff Deluxe is MILES ahead of the regular one.
I'll probably keep it for other basses, to be honest. But there is NO WAY I'd be able to use it for what I originally thought I was going to.

What I don't get is that they can't put switches on pedals like the POG (which is quite expensive I think) that don't make clicking noises when stomped on. I mean, is this that difficult?

yep, true. i prefer the MXR brand with their "Bass Innovations" product line ... they do everything right and show us bass players lots of love, don´t you agree?
At least EHX takes chances and make pedals that can go to extreme settings. The MXR pedals are very ... tame. I understand that a lot of bassists like subtle effects, but some of us would like to be able to take effects to the limit. And I still own an MXR pedal (the comp), so I'm not a hater. But there's always room for a company that goes a little more extreme. That is why I utterly disagree with most of the comments above about EHX. It's true that they've made quite a few clunkers. But some of their effects knocked my socks off.
well you know, i guess i am the total opposite of you, i am not really liking the mxr line of pedals except for the compressor and bass octave, all their blend seems to be too strong for my liking, which is good as it means that people have different taste
Takes all kinds to make the world go round. Guess I am an oddball for having MXR and EHX on my board at the same time. You could say I am a registered member of the Independent party when it comes to selecting my pedals. Never had a pedal that made me want to jump on to a public forum and let everyone know how disgusted I was by it and the people who make it. I just quietly sold it and moved on. Not my cup of tea but may be yours.

The EH Bass Micro Synth is an incredible pedal. You could almost do every thing with it. Envelope filter, distortion, octave.....
Also the Germanium OD, the Bassballs and the Bass Muff are all terrific pedals at terrific prices.
Let's not throw the baby with the bath water here.
There's a lot of very heavy EHX bashing here, which is a shame, because remember many of the modern pedals which you know and love owe much to original EHX concepts. I mean where would we be without the Memory Man, the Whammy, the Micro Synth, the Big Muff...
Other innovators will always come along and through the guise of boutique brands they will offer improved variations of original EHX ideas - and I have no problem with that at all. Let's give credit where credit is due though - EHX are a company who have been at the forefront of creating interesting and new pedal designs for four decades and they don't seem to be slowing down either. Long may it continue.

After spending more knob twiddling experiment time with it and the Casady today, it will do exactly what I want it to do!! In other interesting news, it now looks like my ever changing board is about to be set in stone...FINALLY!!!
