I have the same gut feeling as you, Da Funky Fish, but am not "funded" to purchase new equipment this year. I think it would kill.

Any updates for reviews on these things? I lust continually for a 412, and yes, in the "omgsupercrappyguitard-square" configuration.
Even though I know the vertical line up is better and I use it, I play a lot of rooms where I'm too loud anyway so an ineffecient cab actually might be more useful to me than one that has optimum dispersion. I know my sound guy does not want my stage rig to interfere with his mix out front. So why not? Heck, if your'e not playing jazz fusion, why do you need super effecient cabs? Plus the Avatar just looks badass and sounds great in the video. I just wish it said Marshall on the front, LOL. My .02
I don't think mechanical efficiency and mid-range dispersion are the same thing, but I hear your point nonetheless. I really would like to see a comparison of the b412 vs the tb153. But, I'm also wondering which eminence neo 12's are in this cab. Because, another TBer (Johnk_10, I believe) loaded a sealed 412 cab with deltalite II's, and reported FANTASTIC results.
So I noticed on the Avatar site that they are now offering this beast in an 8 Ohm version. Anyone itching for an 812 stack of doom?
I'm looking at an Ampeg V4B head, and what cab/s to get with it and I know I love Avatar. This cab is a similar size as the original V4 4x12, because they probably did the same thing, used a "guitar" sized cab for bass. That combo would probably have big vintage honking cut and tone.
