NEW AVATAR B412 NEO CABINET

Hey Everybody!

Just wanted to drop a quick note to everyone out there that you definitely would be doing yourself an injustice if you didn't check out the new B412 Neo cab from Dave and the gang at Avatar. I received one of the two prototypes Dave made and it is incredible to say the least. It sounds like a 4X10 on steroids...open, articulate and tight with a HUGE bottom end. For us 5-stringers, it's a lethal weapon! If you're in the market for a new cabinet, give this one some SERIOUS thought!

How the heck is Dave going to continue to offer the Neo version...if Eminence discontinues making all its Neo drivers? Seems like an awkward time to bring a new Neo cab to market...

That's when they were offering cabs with garbage delta 10s and "meh" delta 12LFs.

No. I owned both the 410 and 212 versions of his NEO cabs as well as a couple delta 210's.

My 212 NEO was something like 329 shipped and the 410 was 425ish shipped.

I can't wait for a review. I'm very interested in this cab. I have the Avatar b212 and love it. I did make the mistake of getting it in the 4 ohm version and cant add another one because my amp wont do 2ohms. so I've been thinking about getting a 412 cab for bigger venues. the thing that concerns me a little about this cab is that its not taller like other 412 cabs I've been looking at. I wish it was taller so that it puts the top drivers closer to my ears.

I am certainly interested in this product. However, maybe some of the avatar aficionados could answer a question of mine. Do the ceramic mag versions of the avatar cabs sound inferior to the neo versions? It seems as though some feel this way, despite Dave's vehement assurances otherwise. Do tell.

Right. It's in a traditional square configuration. That's unfortunate, as Dave could just as easily have made it much taller and considerably narrower - say around 36"H x 20"W x 16"D or so - with a diagonally staggered driver orientation.

As it stands now, it looks more like a guitar cab...

If you read his site HE DID just use his Guitar cab and ported it differently.

I'm Avatar's "biggest" cheerleader/fan/supporter...but I think the ball was dropped on this cab. A taller, narrower, diagonally staggered driver cab would have been the way to go on this.

Stack a couple of them puppies up like Marshall cabs - NO problem then...

Dave doesn't do different cab sizes. Th 15, 212, 410 etc etc all use the same size cab?

In order to make a 412 he had to use one of his pre sized guitar cabs.

Yes sir, this is a common practice by most commerical bass cabinet manufacturers.

If I am going to pay $800+, I'd rather buy the GK 4X12 which is in a cab better suited for bass (26"W x 41"H x 17"D)

If Avatar's prices are having to be raised this much for Neo equipped bass cabinets I can't wait to see what the major commerically built Neo loaded bass cabinets are gonna sell for in the near future!!!

Glad I've already got my two Neo equipped Avatar 210 cabinets...

Please don't let the position of the drivers be an issue for you. This cabinet is amazing. Aside from the incredible sound, it's compact, lightweight and easy for one person to carry. A taller cabinet in my opinion would be more awkward to gig with. I still wholeheartedly recommend this cab. I love mine!!!
