New Barefaced Generation 3 cabs announced

Condescending Tone????? Who can read that in a post??? (Weird)
The tone I'm want to hear is the one coming out of these cabs.
The tone of my Bass thick and punchy down low and smooth and clear in the mids and transparent highs. Do you guys have a distributor in the states or a shop here?

Am I the only one who wishes that the 15" Compact would remain available? Forget the change to a 12" driver, and smaller box size, my concern is the statement about added high end and mids with the new cabinet. I think the Dubster is the perfect 2-15 cabinet and the Compact seemed to be the closest thing to 'half a dubster'. Based on the description of the Super Compact, the new version will sound closer to a 15/6 than to 1/2 a dubster.

The Big Baby 2 really interests me. I'm assuming it would handle all that I'm doing with my Markbass Traveler 151P through my Little Mark III head (300w @ 8 ohms). Does that sound right? How about with two of my 151P cabs at 500w?

It'll handle everything the 151P can. Whether it can do what two 151Ps can depends on how much amp power you're currently using! No 1x12" with 300W can match 2x15" with 500W but if you're actually using 150W into the 2x15" stack and the rest is just unused headroom, the key being that your speakers are running cleaner and sounding bigger and fatter than with one 1x15" then yes, the BB2 can.

Just placed my order!! Looking forward to having another Barefaced cab. This time it won't be going anywhere :bassist:

The tone is down to the player, bass and amp but if that combination makes the tone then our cabs will reproduce it. We sell direct to (almost) everywhere in the world.

super nice looking stuff!

Thanks! Over the last couple of years we've put a lot of effort into making sure that our customers say "my cab sounds AND looks awesome" rather than "my cab is awesome despite not looking amazing". The big change for the G3 models allowed us to address the finest of the aesthetics details.

This just shows how badly words fail to describe sounds! The Dubster has a very cool name and is great at doing big round lows - however we've found that there are too few bassists who are solely focused on this kind of tone, most want a more versatile cab that can do better mids and highs. Head to head, the Super Compact sounds less midrangey than the Compact and it has more immediate slam in the lows and although the highs don't really go any higher if you stand exactly on-axis, the dispersion is MUCH wider and they're cleaner and sweeter. It doesn't sound anything like a Big One (15/6).

Thanks, Alex. I didn't exactly ask my question right. Good to hear that the BB2 will handle whatever my 151P cab with LMIII does. If I wanted more how do you think a BB2 with an added 151P cab would sound at 500w? Two BB2s would be better, but until then I still would have at least one of the 151Ps.

Yes, I think that should work pretty well, the BB2 is loud enough to dominate the tone but the 151P should move some more air and couple well enough low down to help out.

There are some really incredible high end cabs available this past year. I've done my homework, used good construction technique, and premium drivers/material with numerous DIY projects that have turned out quite well. But, I just can't match the intensive R&D and refining that builders like Barefaced, Audiokinesis, and Big E are doing with their product lines so I'm done with DIY. Still contemplating at this point but love the design of this Big Twin 2 with that 12XN550 driver.

Really nice picture of them on the home page.

Alex and co. sent me a brand new Super Twin for Christmas. I've paired it with a Euphonic Audio iAmp Pro and am absolutely stunned with the results. The construction is very sturdy, especially when considering the lightness. The casters work a treat, and the side handles will see double duty holding cable in place. Loudness is like nothing I have ever seen for the size. It kicks like an 8 by 10", but without that dead zone in front of the cab where you can't actually hear yourself even though the audience is going deaf.

I won't be able to gig with it until mid January, but it is my favorite piece of kit in the basement at the moment. :hyper:

I have put the 2 Fender Jazz (4 and 5), 1 Marleaux Jazz, 1 Rob Allen MB2-5 and one plywood upright bass through it - they each retain their tonal character, but somehow become, well, more. The punch I get from the Fender Jazz 4 in the midrange is unbelievable. Muted slapping is also a joy, though I think I need to add more soundproofing to my rehearsal room if I want to stay married.

Now, is there any reason to get a second one of these? The amp can drive 2 ohms....

Merry Christmas from Germany!

Steve

congrats, that looks very nice!

can't wait any longer...there is some delay in the inter-bank procedures and Alex did not get the money transfer in time to send me the cab before Christmas...
I had a hard time when I was noticed that my money has not arrived (money transfer performed the 16 december) but I'm confident that Alex can find the payment asking his bank when he comes back to work after the holidays.
My BB2 is waiting in the Barefaced storage room...what a shame...hope they kept it warm and gave it some Christmas gift...:smug:
