New Bass Day! (by proxy)

Hey Kids, yesterday I had some time to kill so I went pawn shopping.

I came across a Foundation in pearl white, with a maple neck. It's pretty beat up cosmetically, has a sticker I'll need to remove, and is missing a string. But it seems to play OK. Here's a pic of a similar one:

Anyhow, I can pick this up for $99. Seems like it'd be a great birthday present for my daughter. She has been borrowing my basses, so this would be the first one that's all hers. I did a search and from what I'm seeing these are pretty well regarded, and I know from experience (I own a Peavey Predator Strat, a T-60, and a Fury I bass) that Peavey USA stuff is built like a tank.

That's what I'm thinking. I know I could send off a Benjamin to Kurt and get her an SX P-copy or something, but this way she not only gets a USA-made bass, but also has something that's not the standard ho-hum P or J (not to knock either of those, I own one of each myself-- it's just that they're so ubiquitous).

I have three Foundations and love them all. Most of the TB love goes for the earlier versions with Superferrite Pickups, but I really like the newer ones like the one you've shown. The pickups are a bit warmer but cut through a mix very well. I paid $99 for mine also, and it is easily worth 5 times that to me.

$100 is a smokin' deal for a USA Foundation. They usually go for twice that or $250. No brainer IMO.

That's a great deal on a great bass! I love the white. I've got a black 5-string Peavey foundation; got it for $230, and it plays as well as any other bass I have!

Well kids, I got it! Other than the sticker on it leaving a "ghost" image, I should be good to go once I get an E string on. Also, it could use some magic spray on the pots, but nothing major.
