New Bass Day with a twist

I was expecting one of those Torzal Twist basses based on the thread title.

Glad it worked out for you! The Sires body would be unacceptable to me. I have an m6 5 string, and I will say that the upgraded tuner knobs make all the difference, along with a dab of grease on the threads of the tuner knob. Smooth as butter by hand now. Still, Sire shouldn't have shipped these basses with that problem to begin with. Other than that, no complaints with mine.

The seams are terrible on the one you had. Mine doesn't have that issue. Mine is the minty green, so who knows what lurks under the paint I suppose.

Yeah I could see them doing it on a bass with a solid color paint finish where you can't see it. But a sand blasted finish? Makes no sense to me .

Yeah the bag was really nice. I should have taken a picture of the handle, sides and inside of the bag to better show how nice it really is.

A couple Q's
How do you guys compare the Sire to the Ibanez?
And what's the deal with the multi scale ? Somewhere someone implied that slappers and heavy metal guys like the stiffer B string? My regular fretted Ibanez five string is fine, but I'm just a finger style guy.

I couldnt help but laugh when you said you turned the tuner so hard you threw out a neck muscle...sorry lol
It reminded me of how my boots tried to kill me in 1975 when on-stage doing a Kiss song.
I was about 25 and a bricklayer at the time with an already bad back. I had not long purchased a (blue) Rickenbacker 4000 bass and was using it this night at the gig. The stage was about 4 foot high and I was dressed in my bell-bottomed pants (pic shows the blue and white "uniform" at the time) and was wearing very high heeled platform shoes (boots) that I had painted blue and white with a colour change liquid dye. They looked great and matched the Ric bass colourwise.
I was pounding away during the Kiss song Rock n Roll All Night stomping my foot so hard the boot heel snapped and sent me over the side-edge of the stage. Mid-flight all I think of was "PROTECT THE RIC" ... It's the only thought i had time for when I hit the floor and landed on my back with the Ric pressed hard against my front. It was truly amazing that I didnt hurt myself at all and after a few seconds realizing this I laid there and continued to play the song. Not sure how many notes I missed but It's truly astounding how well the human body can withstand some falls without serious injury.
So there I am flat on my back finishing the Kiss song on my new Ric 4000 and then clambered back onto the stage. The crowd thought it was part of the show and gave me a hearty round of applause. Needless to say I was very sore when I got home after the gig...but the bass was still in perfect condition thankfully. It would have been a different story had I fallen face first and landing on top of the Ric. Possibly 2 broken necks lol

LOL have a similar one, but not at a gig, just at rehearsal. Was on a big, carpeted stage in a place where we rented by the hour for rehearsals, backline included. Tripped over my cord during a song and couldn't catch my balance. Went crashing to the carpeted floor trying like hell to protect my SBMM bass. Rug burns all over my right arm and leg, the bass never hitting anything, and I kept on playing while down...with the drummer just looking over at me and shaking his head.

I guess it's time to add a little to this thread. I stated on the first post that I liked the bass so much that I might put in another offer on a Texas Tea Meteora. Well after seeing a Texas Tea Jazz and an Ultraburst Precision in person at my local GC I decided to put in another offer, which was accepted again, and ended up with this as well:

The Texas Tea might look good under stage lights but I really liked the Ultraburst. I thought it might look kind of boring and vintage like a traditional 3 color sunburst but I was wrong, it really pops in person. I just got it today and have not been able to plug into it yet, that will come tomorrow. Kind of funny that when I first saw a MIM Meteora in Silverburst, I was not a fan. Now I own two American Meteoras .
