I'm pretty sure I had mine strung with the La Bella low tension flats. The previous owner of it had changed the knobs to jazz knobs unfortunately.

I’ll either go with TI flats or try the Labella low tension flats . The chromes sound good too.

I was mistaken . This bass came with GHS Bright Flats, same strings that came on the earliest StingRay basses.
No wonder I like them so much . They will stay on this bass forever!!!

But since you have those Specials which are probably a little brighter, and the smoovy is a little darker, it might go really well. Brite flats are tough to break in and a little stiff but they will get you that old school tone. I have coblats on mine but I treated them with Eucerin cream first to deaden them. I love how it sounds!

You may want to try GHS Precision flats too, they would have come on the first Rays. I like them but they can be a little sticky. Again,. Eucerin cream :)
