OL SMOOVY. VERY nice. Give Ernie Ball cobalt flats a try. They surely will work much better than Chromes on there. I've tried just about every flat on my Stingray and Chromes weren't too high on the list (but I do love the super lights on my P bass). Brite flats, TIs and Cobalts flats are the best.
Once you get a Classic style Stingray with mutes you can't even look at a 3 band again lol.

Beautiful! Why the extra pole pieces?
It came with the chromes on it. They are very well broken in. Probably a couple years old.
All I play is flats . My Fretless and short scale have TI Flats. My 2 Special 5’s have Ernie Ball Super Slinky ( cobalt ) .
I’ll either go with TI flats or try the Labella low tension flats . The chromes sound good too.
Because that's what Old Smoothies have.
LaBella LTFs sound good on a Ray, and they play very well, but they do take some of the character away and make it sound a little more generic. But since you have those Specials which are probably a little brighter, and the smoovy is a little darker, it might go really well. Brite flats are tough to break in and a little stiff but they will get you that old school tone. I have coblats on mine but I treated them with Eucerin cream first to deaden them. I love how it sounds!
You may want to try GHS Precision flats too, they would have come on the first Rays. I like them but they can be a little sticky. Again,. Eucerin cream

I'm pretty sure I had mine strung with the La Bella low tension flats. The previous owner of it had changed the knobs to jazz knobs unfortunately.

Sounds good to me. 
I plan on doing radio knobs on mine.
It’s not my usual taste but I’m loving the vintage look of the white pickguard with the chocolate burst.
