What do you guys think? from reviews and specs, i've narrowed it down to four. I've not yet had the chance to try any out yet though.

What are you looking for tone wise? for overall versatility I would go for the Fender Deluxe P-Bass Special.
You'd get a lot more bass if you went used. Fender American Std. Jazz or P, Music Man Stingray/Sterling would all fit within your budget.
Because of Warwick MIK Proseries in your price range for new, and of you gettin' more or less same content and craftsmanship of the real thing at less than half german price

+1 for used sterling. Killer bass and one of the most comfortable to play. Plus you can find a nice used one for about $700-$800, and save the extra money.
They're all quite different basses. I'd say ignore the reviews and get out there and try some. Set aside some time and head over to Bass Direct in Warwick (for our American readers, that's a town rather than a German bass manufaturer!). If there isn't anything there that fits within your budget you'll at least get the chance to play loads of fantastic basses and start to narrow down your requirements in terms of sound and feel.
(And obviously ignore any of the prices above that start with a $ - it's going to be the same figure but with a £ over here!)
