This is my New/Old bass design, I programed it in 3D in Mastercam and run it with a 3/8" straight bit for the pockets and outside shape and a 1/2" ball mill to shape everything. Come off the machine and just needs some scrapping to get the lines off. The side I designed an Auto Sander attachment. This bass is really unique it has compensated string spacing for your right and left hand. it actually is easier to play then standard string spacing.

These take about 1.25 hours to do the top.

I make the bridges also, they are recessed and staggered for the string radius and spaced for a 5 string but compensated for string thickness, Here is a better photo of the bridges installed. Also a Flame top one that was a prototype.

I came up with this about 10 years ago. The nut is cut like a normal nut (Equal) but I measure the string thickness and compensate the saddles for the string thickness. For the right hand it really feels more natural at least to me. It does not fan out so much until after the 15th fret. Another way to explan is each string has a different taper to the bridge. So say a normal 5 string bass has the saddles spaced evenly at 17mm string to string. My saddles are different from string to string like this (I only make 5 strings)

Not exactly that but like that, I measure the string thickness, dived by two and added it on the distance.

What does this mean exactly?

In other words: proportional spacing for the saddles, and equal spacing for the nut slots. (I like proportional spacing for both.)
