Musical instruments don't like to be named. They identify themselves by means of a series of musical notes. If you give your bass a name like Harvey or something, it will ridicule you behind your back, tell all the other basses, and none of them will cooperate with you.

Tom

No true, not true at all... I have a Luci that's very cooperative and a new one that is yet to be named. I'm waiting to play with her a little more.

I'm looking to name my bass guitar a cool name and then engrave said name into the neckplate along with a fender logo (I have a MIJ Fender Vintera 60's Bass). I like the idea of a name that ends in a vowel and names that sound like or are greek/italian or smth like that (example and contending name: 'Vacatio', which means freedom in greek). Any ideas?

(They don't have to be greek or end in a vowel, all ideas help)

I’m of no use here. I’ve never named my Basses. If I had a dog, his name more than likely be Dog.

Vacatio is latin. Greek for freedom is eleutheria.

This is too easy:

'That S**-of-a-***ch', as in 'that sob is making me crazy', 'hand me that sob', or the evergreen 'WHY did I buy that sob'.

Hard to decide where I'd have that engraved. I thought about a fingerboard inlay like the old country stars put their names inlaid into the length of the the fingerboard . . . . . aahhhh, probably not . . . . .

Travels well, too. If I had a Hofner or a Mustang, there you go, 'that little sob' or a BTB or another Alembic, 'boy that's a BIG sob'.

You DON"T want to know what I name amps . . . . .
