New Bass Question

i'm looking for a new bass, with a maximum of $600. i want active pickups and a preamp. also i don't want EMG pickups. also preferably humbuckers or soapbars. i'm currently looking at Traben. what do you suggest?

edit: i want a 5 string

Your walking on touchy ground now. Go to your local stores and play every bass. Find out what feels the best and then you can work on changing pick-ups, pre.....
i know, but i've played Peavey basses and don't like them. also i want some recommendations on what basses i could possibly look at. i'm going to some local stores soon, and would like to know who had good experiences with what bass.
i've learned never to ask "which bass is better", because that is an opinion based question and has no answer, because someone could say Rogue even though IMO they suck. (i might be a n00b, but i aint a newb)

Well I think you should look to buy used. You can get a better instrument at a fraction of the price. Things to look for.

Lakland Skyline series
Ibanez SR505
Spector Legend 5
Rockbass Corvetter/steamer 5
Schecter stiletto
Musicman S.U.B
Yamaha TRB/BB

I haven't played a Traben so i can't speak on behalf of them. Nobody on this forum can tell you what to get. Just keep that in mind.

i've looked at some of those, even tho its out of my price, and i would love to have a MM SR5 HH, but my music store doesn't have any in stock, and i don't trust buying used from people online...
