New bass :)

Bought the Squier 50 P Bass today. Took it home and strung it with a set of used Flatwound and the bass sound fantastic.

I needed a passive backup bass for my warwick and fender jazz. This bass fits my purpose and also i don't have any precision bass so this will give me more choice in turn of sound.

Overall this bass feel light and easy to play. I just need to order the Fender Vintage 51 P bass pickup and bridge cover then the bass is all good :)

I live in UK and i bought this in Professional Music Technology. I originally wanted to buy the Squier Vintage Mod Jazz bass but I saw this baby as well and decide to give it try. At the end this win my bet since the glossy maple neck attracts me and the bass sound good as well. Already own a fender jazz so i might as well add a Precision to my collection. After bring this bass home and restrung with flatwound, this bass sound so old school and probably earn a spot to play in live too.

It bass did come with some Round on them. I tune it up and the sound wasn't the best, not bad but nothing special. Specially when you own a warwick and fender jazz.

So i decide to dig up some old D'Addario chrome flatwound string and strung it up on this 50 Replica bass. Tune it up and the sound are so much better. Nice vintage sound with lots of thump on the bass. For some reason the flats have good sustain on this bass than my jazz bass. I use the same set of string on my jazz but the sustain is bad so i change back to round on my jazz. But sustain have no problem on this p bass.

I gonna give it a good couple of month to decide i change the pickup to Duncan's or not.

One thing i'm concern is the vintage 50 p bridge cover. Not sure will it fit on this bass or not, i know the pickup ocver will go on no problem.
