If you are thinking that the bigger the speaker diameter, the more low end, please don't think that. The only thing speaker diameter tells you is how big around the speaker is. It tells you nothing about frequency response. For example, Acme cabs with 10" speakers provide much more low end than most other 10's, 12's, 15's, or 18's. I'm not suggesting you go with Acme cabs, I'm only using that as an example to demonstrate that speaker diameter is irrelevant when it comes to frequency response. It's all in how the speakers are designed and how they work in tandem with the cab design. Besides, those Acme cabs might not produce enough SPL (sound pressure level....i.e., volume) for your needs.Do you think 2 2x10's would do the trick & have enough low end?
I agree with the posters in this thread that recommend a 4x10 cab. I recommend going with an 8-ohm 4x10. That way, you can add another 8-ohm 4x10 cab if you ever need that extra SPL. Running a pair of 8-ohm cabs would provide a 4-ohm speaker load to your amp. Even if your amp can run a speaker load that is less than 4-ohms, I don't recommend it because it makes the amp work harder and run hotter.
One more thing: you'll always get more SPL by adding more speakers rather than increasing amp wattage.
And one more thing again: I'm a fan of Ampeg products, but I recommend staying away from any of their "HLF" cabs (such as the 410HLF for example). In my opinion, those cabs get completely lost in the mix as they are way too boomy.
