Here's the neck so far. Its pretty simple, 3 piece Bubinga/Jatoba. As always I made the blank originally thick enough to get 2 necks from it.

nice neck lams, good to see something other than the Maple/PurpleHeart/Maple combo's you see so often. not that I don't like that combo (heck i use it myself) I think a piece of oiled purpleheart makes a great accent.

I decided that the neck was too blah so I turned this blank into a five laminate with a center lam of paduak. Here is the body roughed out, Sapele bottom Canary top. I will start shaping this thing up tomorrow. Hopefully I will get the neck started as well.

A little more shaping, plus the new and improved (in my eyes) neck blank. I think the bottom of the bass looks like a pair of boobies, always a nice thing!

Yeah it smells great, a lot better than most woods.

I started the neck taper and I have the truss rod slots routed.

I started setting the neck today, the neck will sit a little deeper than what I have it at here, I'm still waiting on the fingerboard. Also the humbucker will sit about a 1/16" futher towards the neck then whats pictured here. In the meantime I will start building the truss rods.
