NEW BUILDING

We've had some exciting progress taking place here the past few weeks. Danny's brother is a trim carpenter, and Danny's mother decided that she wanted to put him to work finishing our showroom for us. Who would refuse? What a generous offer that we truly, truly appreciate. And it's really paying off in terms of progress!

Here's how the waiting room looks as of today:

Unbeknownst to me, Danny has been collecting vintage display cases and furniture for use in the store. That's a vintage display case creeping into the photo from the left (it's temporarily in the middle of the room as we wire up a TV on the wall it will eventually sit against). That's a 1917 Kimble record player in the corner (which still works! and no electricity is required). The radio cabinet on the other side of the couch is a 1940's RCA/Victor that also still works.

The showroom is coming together pretty nicely, too. I wouldn't be surprised if all is said and done in that room within 4-6 weeks...

There's a little hallway behind the showroom. Turn left, and you head into the warehouse. Turn right, and you'll end up in the studio (whenever we get around to building that out). This is what you see as your turn left:

Danny's brother, Dana Dunlap of Double D Contracting is a real artist with wood. Check out the joinery on the door trim, it's off the hook. Just a little more work to go on the wall trim, and this back hallway will be done. The showroom is in similar shape, close but not quite done...

Thanks, guys! Danny's brother had to take a break from our place for another job elsewhere, but he should be back soon. The oak baseboard is now essentially done and installed all around the showroom, we just need to put some finish on it and then install the walnut 1/4 round and shoe molding.

After that we need to rig up whatever we're going to do to hang guitars on the walls and build a little bar/cash-register island sort of thing... then the construction will be done!!

A little furniture and a carpet or two, and we'll be open for biz here... at long last!

I seriously think we'll get all this done before Spring 2014 is over... famous last words, but that's the thinking as of today.
