New Cab!

I'm one paycheck away from purchasing my first bass cab to match with my GK 700rbii. I've been looking at many options and unfortunately, not being able to play any of them. Right now, I'm looking at the GK neo 4x10 8ohms, Avatar B410 Neo 8ohms, Ampeg svt 410hlf 8ohms (a bit more cash but willing to go for it if it's worth it). Any input on these 3 cabs is greatly appreciated, and any suggestions for other cabs would be great as well (Ashdown, Eden, SWR, etc..). thanks for your help!

Well, I play a stingray 5 in an alternative rock band. I would like a punchy, clear versatile cab that can handle the nice low notes. I play pretty funky, I throw in slap sometimes, some heavier breakdowns, very melodic bass lines at times. There aren't really any music stores around where I can play any of these cabs. Just want a reliable cab that'll do me justice at gigs. Thanks again for your help.

The GK will let you use the HMS on the 700rbii, something to consider. I'm doing the same thing you are (just got the same head, now time to buy a cab once the next paycheck shows up) and I'm getting a pair of avatar 2x10 8ohms for the ability to bring one 210 to smaller gigs and practices, or run a "410" at 4ohms in a vertical line. Might be something you want to consider.

Have never played through Avatars, so I can't really give you an A/B, but I ran my EBMM Sterling through the 700rbii and the GK neo 410 and it really growled through that setup. Would sound great for the music you described.

I'm gigging two Avatar Neo 210 cabs in the vertical 410 arrangement powered by a G.K. MB2-500 head.
For me, this has worked VERY well.

Thanks, do avatar cabs have anything that makes them stand out from the others? I think I would go with an Avatar 410 running at 8ohms just so I can use it in the future with another cab if I had to. I really like the look of the avatar cabs and the custom colors and such.

i am playing 2 SWR Goliath 410s with My GK 1001rb II and man i can say enough about the sound i get from them paired up with the GK head. it is truly a match made in heaven!! Never ever have had one person say anything bad about the sound. Every time i take it to a show and there are other bass players there with their stuff....lets just say i am fighting them off cause they all want to use it cause it just sound soo damn good!! So my vote goes for the SWR Goliath!!! best of luck in your search for a new cab!!! Dont think you can go to wrong with pairing any cab up with the head!! Cheers mate!!~Elliot

Well, is there any way you can briefly describe some of the cabs I mentioned and the tone they give. I can probably make it to a GC later this summer but I'm sure they don't have Avatar cabs there. Hopefully they will have the GK neo cabs. I'm looking for a warm punchy tone.

IMHO, Avatar bass cabinets are THE best inexpensive bass cabs on the market.
I replaced some "very" expensive, brand name cabinets with Avatar Neo 210 bass cabinets and haven't regretted it for a second!
Do a search here on the forum, there's a wealth of threads on Avatar.

Many speaker guru's havve mentioned that their proprietary Emminence drivers are better then what MOST commercial cab companies offer. Additionally, it has been mentioned that Dave doesn't stray far from Emminence's suggested cab designs.

So, it's at least as capable on paper as most competitors for a lower price. No earth-shattering design wows, but good solid components used correctly.
There are plenty of complaints about the horn/comp driver used.
