i'm not sure where this whole pcb argument has come from, no one has said anything against them.

Again, my post that seems to have sparked this “plug fest” was directed at the “overpriced” comment(s), not PCBs.

Where has this nonexistent argument come from?
I think it's pretty obvious that the employees of mass produced transistor amps have an agenda here. We have two admitted employees of mass produced (or mass imported) relatively inexpensive PCB products taking an opportunity; creating an “argument” or controversy in order to derail another "old school " oriented thread. Distorting the theme of a thread in order to “plug” the companies who pay them by defending the low cost construction methods they use to get their product to market so cheaply, and of course keep their profit margins up.
Who knows, maybe they even get a bonus for every “no cost” pot shot they take at independent builders?

Of course posting in threads is free, and banner advertising is not, but IMO it’s an insult to TB members; particularly supporting members who contribute annually in support of TB’s continued success when large manufacturers with large marketing budgets blatantly use this forums for free advertising and not contribute anything.
Except of course their skewed, obviously biased “opinions” in defense of this implied “superiority” of the inexpensive mass production methods used by their employers (i.e.; the entity that pays their salary) to keep overhead down over the technique used by independent “boutique” builders.

And, not even buck up for a supporting membership? Talk about “thumbing your nose” at the TB community!

As I said, it’s a slap in the face to supporting members.

I am sorry I offended you, but I am factually supporting the technological differences between the two different manufacturing techniques (regardless of manufacturer), and dispelling the myths that are often perpetuated at the expense of unknowing consumers of the product. I have a pretty well established history of spending time and effort here in TB educating where I can the advances in the technologies, how they work and why they may be benefcial to players regardless of the manufacturers who may be adopting these technologies. It's my way of paying back to an industry that has been very good to me over the last 30+ years. I'm sure the other manufacturer's reps come from a similar perspective.

By the way, in case you missed it, my comments were directed at all tube circuits, not transistor or solid state circuits. The performance and reliability benefits apply to both. Just because one fabrication technique may (or may not) be more expensive is irrevelant to the discussion, and did not come up in my comments. FYI, we make 1 all tube, 2 mostly tube and the balance hybrid products so my exposure to design, manufacture and reliability histories is pretty balanced.

We also do support TB quite substantially through the banner program and have for quite a while now. I have personally supported quite a few TB members through projects of their own and in instances where they ran into problems on the road (both domestically as well as internationally) with equipment other than ours, including PA troubles. TB is a great resource, it exposes all of us to ideas, approaches and techniques that may not have been obvious without these discussion opportunities.

I have nothing against point to point wiring, or boutique products. There are some fabulous examples of such product out there. What I take issue with is that a boutique, PTP product is automatically superior to a PCB product. By the same token, there are some excellent PCB based broducts out there and because they are PCB based, are not automatically inferior to boutique and/or PTP built products. In fact, there are some boutique pcb based products that are IMO superior to boutique PTP products.

Fair enough?
