Yep.

Lack of mute and tuner out on the MB200 were definitely considerations for me.

Every SS head can be used without a load, I believe. I use the GK MB200 all the time without a load, hooked to my computer. I'm not crazy about the tone of the GK, but it's a loud little sucker ! Hope we get to hear a side by side with the Traynor.

Yes, an a/b with the GK would be great......I didn't get the GK MB200 because I already have the GK MBFusion 500 but the Traynor really looks interesting....I'll go see if L&McQ has it tomorrow.....I have a friend who has the MB200 so hopefully I can borrow it and do an a/b though he's away on vacation right now

I've played it. Great sounding little head. More headroom than the MB200, but a different voicing so its kind of tough to really judge it. I would say its a bit more mid forward. I am eyeing the SB110 combo right now as a small gig rig for my upright.

My guy here in Halifax put a call into L&M/Traynor (same company) headquarters today. The versions circulating in the Ontario stores (only) are prototypes to ensure that everything was OK prior to full production. That production has now begun and they should be available across the Great White North at least by the beginning of September. My name's in for one when they arrive here.

cool......let us know how you like it.......my serial # is 3 million & something that indicates they have made over 70,000 of them?....doesn't make sense....well who knows if the serial number is really serial?

The Smallblock manual on Traynor's website says the SB200H has 1/4" send and return jacks.

Are the jacks on the side, or were they scrapped when they ran out of room?

Went to L&McQuade today and ordered one...should be here in a week or so......would that be the "production model" or the "prototype"?

They have 10 units in Ontario and it'll be coming from there......$300 Cdn plus taxes....a bit expensive for a 200w SS head......

On the photo above it does not show a "volume" knob....????

Just checked out the owner's manual and it says the the head works 200w in a 4 ohm cab. They don't mention 8 ohms.... does that mean it can't be used with an 8 ohm cab?

MB200 isn't too far from flat with contour off and knobs at noon, flattens out with a few adjustments 10, 1, 2, 10 o'clock iirc.

Sounds like this one might be closer to fully neutral at noon.

I hope jmlee is right and this will be a production model thing. The lack of send / return has been an MB200 dealbreaker for me and I'm really interested in this as an alternative, but only if they "find room" for the loop. 200w in a small / affordable package is really all I need, but I want the option to use my Rusty Box as a proper pre.

Speaking of Traynor's past bass-tone achievements: How *does* this thing sound with the gain cranked up?

Oh sure it can. It'll probably kick about 140 watts into 8 ohms. The 200 watts into 4 ohms is like my old GK 400RB and that thing is *loud* with a couple of 8 ohm cabs.

I hope the send/return does get added. I use a two channel Raven Labs preamp with my upright and would like to be able to go right into the power amp of this little thing.
