I remember when all they had was wood-burning amps.

The requisite TB snark and Yukfest now dispensed with, anybody who own one of these got some cogent advice for the OP on using the amp day to day?

I've got one of those Vox amps, for what little noodling around and home recording I do on guitar. Lots of buttons available to push, and sometimes I've managed to have it muted without knowing what I was doing.

Best advice I have is to slowly go through the manual, and get acquainted with the amp. Not being snarky, not at all! It's just that these things aren't as simple as the old turn-everything-up kind of amps.

The Country guys used to use those cow chip burning amps. They didn't hold much fuel and you'd have to top them up on the fly, usually in the middle of your set. That's where the term "sh*t-kicker music" comes from.

I retract the question due to a faulty instrument cable. The only reason I got it was that it was hybird instead of straight solid state.

I bought one of those hybirds one time. Never again! It didn't work from the get-go. I'm sticking with straight solid state instrument cables from now on. None of that fancy curly que stuff scrambling up my electrons either.

I briefly looked at the manual. It looks like you can get as complicated or as simple as you want. Lots of options with that amp. You definitely don't have to connect it to a computer, but that option exists. It does have four user programmable channels...My nephew had the previous version of this amp, and it sounded pretty good.

Just a quick note going forward - before diagnosing ANY future amp failure we'll need to know the weight of said amp.

Aren’t those steam driven? Fill the water reservoir. Shovel in some coal and get about 30PSI in the boiler, then it oughtta work. I’d advise against tightening down the pressure safety valve to get more grit, as the failure mode from this mod can be quite violent

And don't forget to manually oil the con rods reservoirs daily.
