New Fender American Percision Ultra II.

After the anxious experience of waiting for the delivery of an expensive bass, if I received this much...

...I would keep it and, yeah, fix it myself.

Aside: It reminds me of the uneven string spacing on the American and also Mexican Geddy Js (visible on photos at your retailer). Oh, I just fixed it myself but it did "stick in my craw" a little. But I don't feel negative toward the repaired bass at all. I hope you can feel the same if you keep it. I think the "sounds fantastic" trumps this easily.

It also reminds me of imperfections in at least one of my Rics and also an Import Dingwall, both almost as expensive as yours. I'm forced to forgive Rickenbacker because it's one of my two favorites (and also because their QC is very thoroughly discussed in the Ric club so I was ready for it), but I sold the Dingwall.
What was wrong with the Dingwall?

Come on Fender, I paid 2 grand for this. 🙄 Your QA sucks.
The problem here is I ordered this bass and was hoping for something that looked nice and played nice. Every instrument has its own feel, sound and color.
This is a beautiful bass, sounds fantastic and I love the paint job, I don't want to send it back and I'm quite capable of repairing this myself.
6 days old.
FTLOG - please tell me you're sending that back for a full refund...

According to 1 or 2 people on this forum Fender is perfect and so is their QC so suck it up soldier, it's all in your head. I hear ya though, my AVRI II P bass is the best P bass I've ever played, but it was still missing a screw from one of the tuners and it was in the $2k range, their QC is absolutely garbage so my condolences but at least they can make a good bass now and again.

That isn’t true at all, actually. I’ve been reading along. I’ve had good and bad experiences with Fender QC.

This isn’t about Fender. It’s about being adults.

Stop making this place the big eye roll it’s turned into.

Well, it was a joke and it was funny to me because it is true from my experiences with a few people here and Fender's QC. Just ignore me if you don't like my posts because I'm definitely doing it for you.

Actually it is about Fender. How is it OK for there to be this kind of QC fail in bass at this price point?

Yes, this thread has demonstrated to me that I will never order a Fender online, or buy one that I haven't personally inspected and played first.

I have no such reservation about Ibanez, or Sire, where my basses arrived in relatively perfect condition. Yeah, I had to tighten the barrel jack on the SR Premium, but otherwise both SRs, and my Sire P5R, were perfect, bought online sight unseen.

THIS!
that's the only reason I'm repairing it myself. I looked at it a lot of them, you can look through individual ones on reverb, I went to all three Music Centers from Buffalo to Rochester New York. And ended up ordering this one from a place I'm going to leave unnamed because they had nothing to do with this and did great by me. When it arrived it was the most perfect Sunburst I've seen yet, I've played it out once and it sounds fantastic. I'm keeping it because I know each individual instrument is different. I'm very much happy with this, it won't be a hard fix.
Well the store you bought it from didn't build the bass, but they didn't inform you of the misaligned bridge?

Hmm....
