New Fender Antigua models...

My P-Bass arrived on Monday - but I'm currently in New York, so I asked my Wife to unpack the bass and make sure that everything was "all right".........

I call her this afternoon and she says "yeah honey, everything seems to be OK but there is one problem - the color!"

She says it looks like "baby crap"......I started laughing and still get a chuckle a couple of hours later..

She asked me if I KNEW that this was going to be the color....


God!!! I love that woman!!!

Can't wait for my flight back to the West Coast tomorrow! (for a variety of reasons!)

The Antigua's are officially sold out at Fender! We couldn't get any more now, if we wanted. Our Fender sales rep confirmed it today.

Yeah, that's my question as well. On my monitor, it looks more greyish than green. All the Antiguas I've seen have been more greenish. Even the pics that were on the Fender site looked more greenish, although not AS green as the originals.

I took my pictures in natural light. I don't see any green. It's more of a grayish mushroom baby puke, but some room lighting makes it appear greenish. Awesome color, and a very cool bass. Blame the indoor lighting for any greens.

Got my Antigua Strat yesterday, still waiting on the P-bass, which is on its way. I must say, I breathed a sigh of relief when I unpacked the Strat. Buying a MIM Fender without seeing it in person made me a little nervous, but I've been waiting a long time for Antigua reissues. The build quality and playability are pretty great, and they nailed the color. Slightly greenish, but mostly gray and cream. Way better than the CIJ reissues from the early 2000s. Those were very green and yellow, and had more a stripe around the edge than a burst. Can't wait for the P!

That black Jazz looks a lot like my 83. Did those pickup covers and knobs come stock on yours?

I've never seen a neck with different color wood where the dots are. Did it come like that?

Yes, it looks just like your '83. The pickup covers and knobs are stock. I only changed the pickguard to black. The fingerboard is interesting. The person I got the bass from insisted it came from the factory that way, but Fender support said they had no records of anything like that. It's like a super thin darker tint that doesn't feel any different. No idea how it was done so thin. I like it though. Took a while to get used to.

Wow. I'm like most people, I always hated Antigua, but that bass not only makes me want it, it makes me want a Jazz!

The new Antiguas are Fender FSR from what I've read. I have an Warmoth Antigua P bass. Saweeet!!!!

Someone was saying these are like MIM standards , but i can see the stamped tuners , gloss necks and different truss rod adjustments-id put these more on par with the classic series, like the 50s P and 60s jazz so the price is right for them.

Id like a jazz.

The description on another site (No Treble), specifically stated that these new FSR's have a green-ish hue to 'em, as opposed to the 70's grey-ish/blue-ish color.

I walked into one of my local music stores yesterday (Not GC) and my eye went right past the new Rickenbacher Ruby Red hanging on the wall and right to the Jazz Bass Antigua. Played really nice. Price was under $800.
Oh.. The Rick played nicer though.
