Looks like they put them in his custom shop basses, not sure on these.

That's cool. I've been recently tempted by his current MIM Jazz sig. It would pair up nicely with my (actually) roadworn P-bass..

You should go for it. I had one recently and it played and sounded great. It was also super lightweight, which was very surprising. Awesome bass all-around.

that is much more representative of what he plays live, as per the rig videos ive seen. apparently the '61 isnt powerful enough to deal with everytging else onstage. id much much prefer to buy this than the relic'd flea sig.

I am a big fan of Flea and the RHCP.

I waited for this bass cause this is what he plays ACTUALLY while gigging.

The jazz bass that was released before was only present in video clips and commercials...

If I remember correctly, he asked Ernie Ball to rename the Stingray the Flea Bass and they declined (the ones he played live had a slightly deeper lower cut, I think... during the Ernie Ball era I think he actually recorded with Spectors, Wals, and Alembec quite often).

I do understand the appeal of signature models, but personally, I have avoided buying some basses I really liked because I wasn't a fan of the name on the end of it. In another case I ended up buying a signature bass, removing the name, and modifying it quite a bit.
