I suppose it couldn't hurt to ask. Should I have expected a discount since the bass fender shipped to my dealer in June of this year (had to order not in store stock) was made in April 2013?In my experience, which is mostly with locally owned music stores, discounts are given for new old stock merchandise. Granted, there is a blurred line between new and new old stock, but three years seems fairly obvious to me. YMMV. As I said, I'm not trying to argue, nor am I saying the OP shouldn't keep his bass. I would, however, ask for a price reduction, just to see what happened.
I don't think they would have given me one.
What is the cutoff? 1yr? 2,3,?
After all the bass is new in that it has no playing wear, and has a full warranty. Maybe I made a mistake, and should have asked?
