New Fender Rumble Stage 800?

Hey @Dookieshoes thanks alot for the info! It was exactly what I was looking for :)
On the other hand, I was really curious to see how a preset file looks like (on PC, as data) so maybe I could try to reverse engineer something.
Do you happen to have a preset file (just the preset, not the whole html) lying around?

For anyone looking to land the Stage 800, I pulled the trigger after playing a Rumble 500 last night. Adorama in NYC has a fantastic package, Stage 800, Sennheiser E 609 Guitar Mic, 25" XLR Cable and Boom mic stand for $829. Used the Adorama card to save even more. Never knew they had music gear. Now I see they have a ton and offer bundles like which I haven't seen anywhere and they don't come up on searches. FWIW...now back to re-reading the posts!

bothers me a little about this line of bass amps.. they make a studio 40 and a stage 800, but nothing in between for the players that need 100-250 watts range? or don't want to spend 1400$ on the stage 800 which hasn't really gone down in price much since they were released.. here in australia that is..

with the other rumble line of amps they had a 100w, 250w and 500w if i'm not mistaken.. yeah, i guess you could just buy one of those but they don't have the same features as the new rumbles..

Fender has been simplifying the Rumble line of late. They've discontinued the 200 and 500 heads, as well as the 112 cab. The reason for this is probably sales figures - the 200 and 500 heads were outstripped by their combo siblings, and most people bought 210 or 115 extension cabs for their combos, rather than 112s.

With the Stage 800 and Studio 40, Fender has squarely targeted two very specific markets - those who want a modelling amp for practice and recording, and those wanting a modelling amp for live use. For the first application, not much wattage is needed, for the second, you usually need all you can get, and those two models cover those applications very well. I'm not sure producing additional models to sit inbetween would be cost effective, as Fender might well end up in a situation where the Stage 800 and Studio 40 would outsell additional models by a large margin, just like with the 200 and 500 heads.

In addition, there is Covid-19. Because of the pandemic, most companies have limited their Research and Development efforts considerably, and I wouldn't expect anything major on that front for a while. Same with prices - they're going to pretty much stay the same for a while - if there's a change, they will probably go up rather than down.

You're not alone in your concern, Mikie. I belabored my decision for over a year before getting the Studio 40, which has all the same tone features as the Stage 800, just a smaller power amp. The 800, however, is "only" 400 watts by itself since it requires an external cab, or two, to produce its full 800 watts.

I finally decided that I can reinforce my Studio 40 with my older Rumble 500 combo, and my Bassman 500 half-stack, if even more is needed. Other existing amps could do this, as well. Maybe not as elegant as a 200 to 300 Watt combo, but a very workable solution, nonetheless.

Hope this helps.

I have the Rumble 800 full stack. It's nice. I was surprised Fender didn't offer the 800 watt head with the effects section.

Maybe the presets are "tuned" for the 210 cab and a head may give significantly different results with other cabs?

I'm not too sold on the effects, amp models, speaker emulations being tuned to anything. I have way more control over settings than the simple "presets" Fender provides. The head would be great if it had what the Rumble 800 has. I don't think they wanted to put the little TV screen into the head!

I really dunno that the 100 stock presets are tuned to anything. That's just one theory (guess?) of why no Stage 800 head. One user thought the Stage's speakers must be FRFR, but turns out they're exactly the same as in the Rumble 500 combo!

Each preset is just a starting point. Every "simple" preset has many, many controls, just like the hardware they emulate, that can be adjusted to go from a slight tweak to a radically different setting. Or even swap out preamp/EQ/amp and/or cab models and add/remove/relocate pre- and post-effects (with their own settings, too). Extremely flexible, if you want, or just dial through the 100 stock presets to the ones you like, delete the ones you hate, and/or add another 100+ presets of your own creation (or downloaded from the Tone Community!). It's up to the user how simple or complex they wanna make it.

I took all the amp models and deleted the reverb that Fender has an affinity for. My favorite setting is Studio Preamp because it's clean. The Ampeg is pretty credible. I have favorite settings for different basses (URB & BG), devised special effects that tunes were created because of. I call it my bass synthesizer and it really adds a palette that is simply not available otherwise. I have never embraced effects, but with this amp it's like "why not?"...what's FRFR?

Cool, Sammy! Make it your own!

Full Range, Flat Response speakers give "unncolored" tone and are usually "The Choice" for studio monitors and, lately, for modeling soeakers.

Hi all, is there anyway to configure this to keep a drum pedal like the beat buddy from being affected by amplifier model? I tried putting the beat buddy into the FX mono return but it then cuts out the main input on the top, where my bass is plugged in. Hopefully I'm just being dense and need more coffee.

I'm trying avoid a situation where some weird amp model (or effect) is coloring the drum machine's sound. Picture a drum sound get fuzzed or phased. That's what I do not want.

That's because the FX Return has a switch that cuts off the pre-amp signal! If you connect the FX Send to the input of your pedal it should work better. The pedal is then a "global" effect, last in the chain. Of course, I have no idea what interaction any preset(s) pre-amp signal may have inside the pedal, but hopefully it's nothing significant, if any all. Try it and see.

The switch is intended to keep any "un-pedaled" pre-amp signal from interfering with the signal that's gone thru the pedal. So, without the FX Send going to the pedal, all you get is the pedal to a powered speaker.

Ephford, please come join the Rumblings in the Fender Rumble Club. ;)

That worked great, thanks! ... ...

Yay! Glad to hear it. So, is there no interaction between presets and the pedal?

... ... . My next fix is to get the screen replaced but I'm a second owner and assuming the worst when it comes to a claim.

Ah! Well, now, Fender warranties are no longer transferable, so there's no help there. And I've not heard of any screens being repaired, only the whole amp being replaced under warranty. But, by all means, see what can be done!

What about the phasers, chorus, flanger etc on board? Do they sound any good? I used a Headrush Gigboard and loved it, but had to sell it due to finances. I'm hoping the mod effects on the Stage are more than decent, and that they are useable live....but I have my doubts... Anyone care to write a review on the effects section? (not the amp and cab sims)

Thanks
